Regarding venue picks for future ashes series and kiwi 3 test series in England I’d lock in the 1st test in London(Wembley or spurs) then the 2nd test in Liverpool(Everton) for Australia and Manchester(etihad) for New Zealand then finishing in leeds for the 3rd test in the newly redeveloped elland rd.
wembley 90k
spurs 62k
everton 52k
Etihad 62k
elland rd 53k
They’ll never take two games to one side of the Pennines. It should be London or Newcastle, one in Yorkshire, one in Liverpool or Manchester. The issue we have though is the Yorkshire grounds aren’t the best. Elland Road is run down and needs renovating and after that you are looking at Hillsborough in Sheffield (another dump) or Bramall Lane, which at 32k is quite a decent size for England v New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga etc. We use Headingley a lot because the hospitality is great but as a ground it only holds 19,700, which is great for non-Australia but does feel a little “safe” when playing Australia. Odsal is hell on earth and looks like Pripyat and after that you’re looking at Hull, which is one of the better venues in Yorkshire.
If we were to play New Zealand in 2027, for example, I think we would look at something like;
Tottenham Hotspur - 63k or Emirates Stadium - 60k
Hull - 26k
Wigan - 25k
45k and 2 sell-outs puts you at 95k across the three games, which would be pretty good. You’ve got to look at approximately 125k attending the Ashes this winter.
