Finals Week Two: Bulldogs v Panthers

Cogger wouldnt be my 14 next year but he is a definite upgrade in that spot over Brad so we get slightly better if he is the 14.

Cogger at 14 is a pretty good option.

For finals it's probably the go. Be good if we could find an out and out 9 and Kenny becomes the 14. If not then a Crossland type player would be good for the role.

For sure, but for the balance of the cap, I don’t think we can afford a gun 9.

Kenny offers such great value.

I’d love a Bailey Hayward style player on the bench. But I think we will have to run with Cogs and see what happens with one of the younger guys.

@Chins is right, we all know how Ivan likes to play it by now. I agree though and would like to see Cole be given a decent shot at locking down the 14 role.

If you look back over the early rounds it was Cole, Laurie and Tailagi who all had bench time before Schneider had a shot.

So it won't necessarily be Jack Cogger round 1 in 2026. Last time Cogger was here he only got a run due to SOO and Cleary's injury.

I'll back someone younger to have a better pre-season and win the spot in the early rounds. Just a question of whether they can keep it because by the time we reach the end of the season its usually back to factory settings:

2024 - BS

Its a large amount of turn over in the NSW cup team. Billy Scott and Jack Cole are the only names I see that could potentially jump ahead.

It could also be a new recruit to round out our top 30. Our hooker depth is really thin with Sommerton and Luke gone. Another player who is hungry to get a spot in a top 17 whoever that is.

But its really become a 7 question. When we had Laurie/Luke etc on the bench we still had Luai. And Jarome started winning us games without Cleary in the team. So there was some confidence in running with other options like playing a hooker. If we lost Luai or Cleary mid-game we could find a way to win.

Its just not the same anymore with Luai now gone. Tailagi is good but he isn't Jarome. So yes Cogger should be the favourite.

Fair chop, but I’ve had unfortunate experiences with them and seen some bad things.

If they lose, a lot of them will be very angry.
