What that Penrith win illustrated about Game 3 2025

It illustrated just how mighty the series win by the Maroons was. The NSW team 2025 was peppered with Penrith players past and present. Yet QLD cruised to victory.

Bodes well for the relevance of State of Origin that the most dominant RL club team since the 1960s can't replicate that dominance in the State Of Origin arena despite that avalanche of inclusion in one side's State team.

Origin is a beast unto itself.

The second game was a complete stitch up. I wouldn't gloat.

I think it demonstrates how different the games are between NRL and Origin. No attempt made to keep the teams apart means there is limited time; the halves that do well (Munster, Dearden, Moses) play over the advantage line; disappointing Hughes isn’t eligible as he would be amazing.

Halves like DCE and Cleary look awesome in Origin though when their teams get on the front foot, but limited ways to turn around momentum once it starts flowing the other way unless the referee interferes (like he did in early Origins this year)…

Another difference between the dominant game of Penrith’s on the weekend versus SOO is last weekend was played in bright sunshine in September, and originally are night time games mid winter.

One of the reasons Cleary generally looks great in Perth where, apart from this year, the track is generally pretty good for footy.
