Ilias was back up
to get us to the real market at nov1
at best no injuries whats everyones guess in 2025.........maybe 12/13 wins max with the squad we had?

Who was the white whale on offer coming into 2025 as an amazing half we could have secured?

So Atkinson......he is our 2026 no7 and even Shane has said that
We have been vocal for a serious no7 for 2027 and scouring the market with Ando best in the business
Ilias provided competition for spots and cover for injuries
Glover or LKT was development > we chose LKT and re-signed for two more years
Reed coming up and maybe ready end of 2026/2027
Kyle covered 2025 and reeduced the pressure for LKT to develop / systematically LKT was allowed to have more and more decision making as the season went on........so he was best chance ready for 2026

I dont think Ilias as a low $ was a big deal at all for 2025/26 and he may want to move on for 2026 and plenty aspiring halves have for decades

The combined salary of our halves for 2025 Flanno, LKT, Ilias and Glover is the same as Nathan Cleary. So no wonder we ended up 15 in the ladder. Most clubs develop these guys and they do not move to other clubs except at the end of the their career or very early and help them develop. For year's we have developed no halves:

Bud and Amone promised at lower levels but never excelled! Maybe Hunt stopped their development as he hugged the ball!

Anyway, we finally have got a promising young one in Atkinson and he might finally pull us up. 2026 will be Atkinson's development year.

A lot of people here talk about Reed coming thru. Let's not put too much pressure on promising young ones and let him develop physically and mentally. I believe Bud was pushed too early and hence he spent most of his early years with us on injury list

I'll defer to better judges than me but Glover looked very good to me. It seems our decision makers have other plans but he has been scooped up by Bennett, which must at least mean he has some talent. I reckon we could have given him a game or two in 1st grade before letting him go. We had nothing to lose, after all - not even our pride by season's end.

Shibasaki is available from the Broncos. He would be a good one to get. Val / Shibasaki centre pairing. Sami / CT wingers. Not a bad backline.

I remember a game against the Titans a few years ago - might have been Griffins’s last year? - in which our shite defence made Sami look like the world’s greatest winger. He pretty much made breaks at will in that game. Have got to say I haven’t really rated him but maybe he was just a victim of playing in a really crappy team. He's definitely faster than Allen and more reliable in defence than Sloan.
