Agree,
I think Sloan is quicker but cannot see him showing that kind of effort in chasing, unfortunately 😩
Agreed, Sloan likely wouldn’t have bothered chasing. He has never been an effort player, he plays with a distinct lack of confidence in both attack and defence and as such will never reach his potential. It’s a shame, but it’s the reality. I don’t see any other clubs banging down the door to sign him as they know the same.

Looks like hopefully this is changing with retaining our younger players. I think they have made a mistake telling Sloan to go though.
I think I agree but I can't be sure.

I feel like he needs to spend an extended period in cup to work on his deficiencies then return to the top grade but I feel like he has almost played too many top grade games now to do this.

It's now a conundrum...

It's an absolute tragedy that this game is on at 3:15pm tomorrow, competing with the NRL prelim.

Is there a valid reason this didn't get played today, when we are all starved of some real footy action?

Really annoying as fox just broadcast the qld reserve grade grand final
Well done to whoever got this wrong

I am disappointed that Sloan hasn't shown enough. He seems to be a very decent young bloke and can be exciting but he simply lacks critical skills and will to win. If Sloan stays, I wish him a great 2026 and turns things around ; I just don't think he has it in him.

Sloan, Sullivan and Amone.

We were promised great things. They've all flopped.

The new crop of juniors (mostly forwards) seem to be delivering a lot more already but this is exactly why we can't put all our eggs in one basket. Need to recruit ready made stars too.

If Sloan was at another club and was available, would we want him or say, yeah he has speed but that’s it, can't defend properly, won't put his body on the line, drops more bombs than he catches. Thanks but no thanks.
i Understand the comment, but I think it’s out of date. His defence and commitment to contact really did improve this year, and although he still drops a few, it feels like it has improved (though maybe it’s just less opportunities at winger) The concern to me is more the defensive reads.

Personally I want to persist with him, though his slower development means he should take a hair cut.

Our squad should be a mix of marquee and local juniors. It should be rare to recruit an average player from another club.

Little snippet of Riccio’s article with Cody Ramsey this morning:

There is belief too from the Dragons hierarchy, tabling Ramsey an supplementary contract for 2026, which includes a base salary of $85,000 plus match payments, should he progress to the NRL.

It comes amid interest from the English Super League.

Ramsey made no secret of his desire to stay with the Red V, while offering perspective to his courageous comeback.

“I’d love to stay at this club. The idea of returning into the NRL with this club, I feel like its meant to be,‘’ Ramsey said.

Good on the club upping there offer should be enough to keep Ramsey at the club you’d think.

I think we only have 2 supp spots left, and 3 young guns in Liu, Heidke, Williams still to fit.. Liu I reckon could go straight to Top30 potentially.. though its a lil early.. its a hell of a thing to balance... maybe someone like a Reed could also get promoted mid season to free up a supp spot.. its a jigsaw.

Again though if Sloan goes and we see Ramsey as taking his spot as reserve fullback (which he is) that could work.... hopefully we will have better actual first choice wing options in 2026.. Sami would be great.
