2025 finals series

I wonder if next year is our breakthrough year?

It's hard to bet on it. I was more confident coming into this season and we didn't make the 8. I think we have a better squad than we've had in a long long time. I don't see any real weaknesses in our team. We have quality outside backs, a quality spine and a good pack.

Good-day Tiger. Absolutely.
I also believe that if we had no injuries to key players like Bula and AD, and if we had Bula, May, To'a, Turuva and Skelton all year we possibly could have made the finals.
With a few games to go, we had a mathematical chance of making the finals. With that backline above, I believe we would have won those close games to make a real go of it.
I keep harping on it but you have to have players playing together week in and week out.
I'm really unsure how AD and Latu are going to fit in next year.
These days you have to have two top notch halves to cover injuries and to stay in the final race.
Penrith have Clearey and if he went down they could bring in a bloke like Cole.
Storm have Jonah Pezet when Jahrome Hughes was injured.
Benji will also have a full preseason with the same squad, exceptions would be a handful of players like KPP.
I could see Benji was getting better this year so I hope this continues for a long time.

Interesting results. I can't believe Canberra and the Dogs are out from two straight losses.

I don't know if anyone watched the game but Stefano played a blinder. He has been showing some form this season and he looks to be putting together a real good 40 minutes of footy. I reckon if he stayed with us our pack would be unreal.

I also think IP has been playing great for Penrith.

I thought IP played pretty decent footy for us even though he was never great. I thought Stef showed a lot of promise but he had way too many mistakes for us.

I don't think we did anything wrong in letting these two guys guy but it sucks seeing them playing better footy. To be fair Stefano has improved whereas IP to me is just playing the same.

As I said, Stefano went to the Storm to raise his game under a better system and he's achieved that. He could just be the best forward in the GF.

I reckon the key to IP playing well is having a top notch half to pass the ball to a position they need him to run onto, which will be the most effective line for him to run, rather than just passing it to him and getting him to work out the line on his own.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a half with the vision or skill to do this consistently. Certainly no one within kooee of Moses or Cleary. I think he needs a half at that level to unlock the best of his game.

Both are playing good footy after slow starts to their seasons. Papilii in particular looked way off the pace when he joined Penrith. He looked slow and puffed out all too easily but credit to him in that he appears to have done the hard work.

I agree that Stefano has developed another gear that we never saw at the Tigers. It sucks for us but he has clearly made the right call for his career. As for IP, I disagree. He is absolutely fitter than he ever was with us. I think he could go back to his old Parra form with another off-season under his belt.

I’m guessing the Broncos and particularly Payne Hass’s win against the Panthers, puts to bed the “bad parents” theory.. Esp since Hass was the reason Cleary didn’t have time to kick the 3 point field goal..not that I’d be inclined to judge anyones decline in life unless I’d walked in their moccasins anyway. Naturally with a couple of exceptions.

The last time Hunt passed the ball that was tapped by an opposition player resulted in Weeks length of the field try.. That this one lead to a match winning try would have been incredible relief for hunt. Ushering the try scorer through to the try line would have been close to an out of body experience for him..talk about moments in a game that can change your life.

The things I noticed yesterday
Madge can coach
Cleary is a protected player, he should have been binned as a minimum.
The pennies faded in the 2nd half again
I don’t think the broncs can best the storm

Madge can coach. Marshall and Farah didn't want to do the work to succeed under him

When he got tackled in mid-air? Should have been a Penrith penalty imo

Yes. No surprises though that it was the left edge where Garner was that leaked hard, again, like last week.

I’ll be cheering for Madge and the broncos. Stefano can go get stuffed

I like Reynolds and I like Madge. I think the Broncos have a bunch of DH players but the Storm are scum.

As for Stefano good on him for playing better footy but I think we developed him and made him a better player and the only reason he is looking good now is because he has better players around him.

I think it’s unrealistic to think the Broncos can beat the storm unless Madge can really mix it up.

The panthers really peppered that young winger.

Clutch final pass from Walsh under siege. Had that impossible Michael Morgan character to it.

The Broncos also ran with a lot of purpose and energy and Madge used his bench well. Haas was otherworldly.

There were some quieter performances from a few of the smug. I thought Yeo was very brave. He’s still an enigma. Cleary was well contained.

But I think they would have got through with JL in a big match performance.

Or we are uncoachable.
I’ll also be cheering the Broncos. That Madge is part of that is fine with me..
I enjoyed that game yesterday beyond words
Madge squeaked through, he looked quite relieved.

He will have them ready, but there won’t be much meat on the bone after that gritty performance.

Nate was within his rights to protest, I think he was going to walk away, but surprised at the retort. Hes one tough hombre. As a package, I think he’s still the best player on earth.

The sun never sets on Nate’s chin.

And apart from smug, he was very close to Tigerdom and brushed past our whiskers before Ivan’s betrayal.

We are the only other nrl club he wanted to play for and in the scheme of things, that’s a good thing.

Mitch of course, brought nothing but grief, embarrassment and humiliation for Junior.

Pretending to screw dogs and trying to chat up a team-mates fiancée. And the rare honour of being one of the first person Haynesy called when the lady messaged him.
