I agree we need more out of the spine than just what Nathan can do. Some of that will hopefully come from Talagi and his development, the rest of it wont be coming from Dy or Kenny and neither of them will be losing their spots anytime soon. So IMO we need to get someone to add some spark off the bench in that 14 role.

I am seeing a heap of talk about the refereeing being biased TOWARD the Panthers. Being a fan, I definitely didn't see it that way, I thought that we were held to a higher standard than the Broncos, but I sort of expected that given that it was their home game and just the general NRL bias against us.

The only thing I can think of is that in a normal game, Marto might have been sin binned. How did others see it?

In a normal game yes marto would be sin binned .Hard to admit this but yeah.

In my eyes, the Ref, played the 2nd half catchup card.
Should be an investigation into why Panthers don't get 6 agains.

Fatigue can affect decision making to be fair. Though that's the part he needs to nail as the 7 and why he has the knock on him at origin.

Certainly not pinning it all on him, I thought he had a very good game overall, but I reckon he throws at least one of those passes during the regular season. Whether it was nerves or part of the game plan, we were definitely a bit too conservative.

And I think some of the criticism of Kenny and Edwards not being ball players is over the top. Sure, they’re not genuine game breakers with the ball, but we should be in our sixth straight Grand Final, so it’s clearly not a major weakness. What they bring in other areas more than makes up for it.

In a normal game the ref nearly never sin bins one side due to a melee. See the Dolphins/Roosters where Sutton (farcically) asks the bunker to give him someone from the Dolphins to bin because he wants "2 from both sides". If Martin only was binned it would have been beyond a travesty, but given Shibisaki was in the melee only moments after Martin, Mam was the one that blew up the fight after an initial shove from Nath and that Nath was literally in the air when he was driven into the ground, even a penalty was a disgraceful bit of refereeing. At worst, it should have been "simmer down boys" or a penalty our way for a tackle in the air.

Throw in McClean being pinged for an incredibly tight offside call that would have put the game beyond Brisbane's realistic reach, despite the fact they go to the bunker for far less likely potential tries and the idea that we were favoured by the officiating is laughable and anyone suggesting it is easily able to be dismissed as a genius. Theres plenty in that game we didn't do well enough, but like the bounce of the ball in a couple of key moments, the big calls didnt go in our direction either.

Edit: Chins is right to bring the Willison cannonball up too. Horrible tackle. Sin bin at absolute worst every day of the week.

Very lucky for Garns it was from straight behind, any slight angle on that and he would have been very injured. Possible career ending type shit

Should be an investigation why Sorenson was ruled out in record time only to be cleared to play after 10 minutes.
Yeah that was weird. I'm not saying there's some conspiracy, but how is that even possible?

Plenty of times a doctor looks at a player stumbling around and rules a Category 1. Never allowed back on the field.

No conspiracy; he looked pretty crook.
Why? That makes no sense? Hes not allowed back on the field for 15 minutes. What's the harm in confirming the concussion before ruling a player out of the game?

I didn't say there was just explaining the system as I understand it. Is strange they do a test after and he passed though. Shows a gap in the way they do things.

The cat 1 rules were known going into the game and Sorro was out of it.

The NRL needs to look into a designated reserve back and reserve forward for an extended bench.

The reserve forward can only be activated in the first twenty five minutes for a game ending injury or the current eighteenth man rules.

The reserve back can be activated at any time for a game ending injury to a starting back but must be verified as playing their last five games in the backs in any grade.

Early forward injuries ruin games.

I'd just like a straight up 6 man bench with the same amount of interchanges.

Adding HIA or "Injury" reserves just opens it up for teams to cheat or take dives.

Panthers could have taken the kick for goal from the penalty a few times. In the end it would have changed the out come
Some tactics needs to be kept evolving throughout the match.
Being 14 nil up.
