Full time at the Jersey Flegg Grand Final.

Melbourne 38
Penrith 18

Significant result.

As stated in my previous post, 40% of Melbourne's jersey flegg squad are local. The Storm began "The Road to AAMI Park Pathway Program in 2022. Plus the Storm will field a stand alone reserve grade team next year.

Great, more storm vs panfers gfs to look forward to.

Yeah I don't see this ending anytime soon. I'm fearful its going to drive people away from the sport.
Seriously what kind of logic is that? There is zero evidence to suggest it has driven people away. If anything the Penrith reign has raised the standard so high that interest in knocking them off is out of this world.

For 3 years in a row crowds and ratings are at an all time high.

Now that it's over and Penrith are out give the bullshit a rest mate.

Its all emotion mate. I'm just pleased they are gone. I personally hate dynasties in sport.

Hopeful that in a few years time we can start telling people to shut up when they ask how many storm players are Melbourne locals.

Great result for RL to see the smug fall at JF level and to the mighty Broncos at NRL level

Puts into perspective those endless LU boomer rants about how the game’s supposedly dying because you can’t cheap-shot blokes in backplay anymore, or because referees are apparently destroying rugby league single-handedly.

Turns out NSW and QLD are they key markets to hold as a sport. Who would have known.

All it took was for us to get enough of a foothold in Melbourne to blow the AFL away in terms of ratings.

WA, SA, TAS, NT, ACT are largely irrelevant. QLD is bigger than all of them combined.
The next big step change for us is boosting attendance.

Once that really takes a jump, we become the biggest code by a margin.

Friday 30 March 2018.

A day that will forever live in infamy.

IMO the catalyst for what the game is today as an on field product.

Maybe the start, but honestly the 6 again rule is the biggest change for mine.

I know that 95% of this forum hates it, but neutrals in particular just love it.

Even Union fans I know, say this is where the game changed for them in terms of getting the mix of rules right.
