The growth in RL in Victoria is great to see. Its been a slow burn but is def gaining momentum. The stats show a steady incremental growth with some sugar hits from things like AAMI opening and continued success on field. They are doing vey well in all metrics and if they keep this trajectory, which seems to be speeding up, will be a massive club in years to come, presuming they dont drop off a cliff on the field when Bellamy finally hangs up the clipboard.

I hope Perth has a similar growth but quicker!

Perth has a massive expat community and not completely anti Rugby league like Victoria was.. and the comp is bigger and more exciting than ever!!

" Only" never said only.
Show us your evidence that League hasn't had a spike in growth in the last 5 years?
Better yet, tell us why it's so important to you that it hasn't?
Sorry, scrap all that.
Tell us when as an AFL fan did you get insecure about Leagues expansion into your territory?
And we can pinpoint the beginning of the spike...

So you don’t live in Melbourne, and you’re siding with someone who didn’t live in Melbourne when the Storm had their true increase.

The Storm did an absolute mountain of work to improve throughout the past 25 years—- suggesting that Victorians who didn’t watch the game 5 years ago are watching now is completely inaccurate.

I’m pro-NRL—- Its likely that I’ve attended more games and more Grand Finals in the past 20 years than you have mate.

What I don’t like is people suggesting that Melbourne didn’t support the Storm before 2020 like old mate suggested this morning.

I think you lack comprehension

Full time at the Jersey Flegg Grand Final.

Melbourne 38
Penrith 18

Significant result.

As stated in my previous post, 40% of Melbourne's jersey flegg squad are local. The Storm began "The Road to AAMI Park Pathway Program in 2022. Plus the Storm will field a stand alone reserve grade team next year.

Good result for Melbourne. Did they stack the side? Anyone good at Penrith plays up in higher grades/ age limits.

Question. Is Storm focussing on local juniors something to do with realising that players they would normally get out of QLD would now have a preference/more options to stay in QLD since Dolphins came into the comp? Without the Dolphins, would Storm be paying as much attention to their own backyard?

Storm v Panthers Jersey Flegg Grand Final today. In the Storm's Jersey Flegg squad, 40% are from Victoria.

I was there and the Storm team are red-hot, their halves were brilliant, the half-back trapped the Panthers in their in-goal at least three times with kicks from more than 20 metres out, they are a good team.
At the end of the game I spoke to one of their supporters and asked him how many were Victorian born, he said about 10 %, that was sobering, most were from country NSW and hadn`t been picked by NRL clubs. He did say there was a lot more Victorian-born kids coming through the system now though.

Well 10% is better than nothing. Like i mentioned before, the Storm began The Road to AAMI Park Pathway Program only a couple of years ago. I think the Harold Matthews squad were all Victorian.

They’re going to pump those numbers up massively in the coming years. The death of the Rebels has been great timing for the Storm’s pathways revamp, basically all Rugby talent in Victoria will now feed into the Storm.

Yep, death to the Rebels, the sizable gap between the cap ($12 million) and grant ($17-$18 million) helps too.

“The difference in 5 years is massive”— maybe in your anecdotal situation, but that’s not reflective of the Melbourne Storm growth and growth in Victoria.

The largest Storm crowd at AAMI Park is still the Cowboys Prelim in 2015. The largest Anzac Day crowd was 2014.

The average Storm crowd in 2023 was only 700 more people than in 2013.

The MCG had 91k attend State of Origin in 2015, 87k in 2018.

Just because you only arrived in Victoria in 2020 and don’t understand the whole picture, doesn’t mean your analysis is accurate.
Spoken like a true vic tard
