Speaking of Queensland Stadia, the redevelopment of Browne Park in Rockhampton had $3.5 million of extra funding put into it this month on top of the $62 million already allocated, to cover shortfalls of funding around the turf and the lighting. Surprisingly, below is one of the best images of the redevelopment progress I could find going around taken in August, the seating bowl of the Western stand appears to be in place ready for the roof installation, however the completion date is reportedly now July 2026. No doubt the local council will be pushing for a Dolphins home game, or a game with the Dolphins as the away team to open the redeveloped ground to tie in with their affiliation with the Capras, who are also the grounds main tenant in the Queensland Cup

Big upgrade, going from this:

To this:

Hopefully they'll be able to get funding for Stage 2, so can complete the northern stand.

Yes the AFL Oval Brigade seem to think ovals are perfectly amazing for League and rectangular sports and governments dare not spend a cent on new rectangle stadiums or upgrades or the Fumble Pitch Forks come out for thugby. That should only be reserved for AFL stadiums, where budget is no issue and any AFL-funded business case that supports spending bajillions on ovals always makes sense and any measly money going to rectangle stadiums is taking money away from the poor hospitals and schools.
You even see RL people on here saying it when it comes to rectangular venues. The current one is fine... Money better spent elsewhere etc...And the same ones justify and back the huge expensive ovals in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

So we’re getting another ‘the’?
South QLD is the current whisper. There's currently no suitable stadium at Ipswich. I'm sure a 20-25k one will eventually be built, but all big Jets derby matches will be at Suncorp as it's the only ground big enough to host them.

But I thought it was too hard for fans to go more than 15km to a game? Or is that just in sydney?
What are you talking about? People in Brisbane come from all corners of the city for Broncos and Dolphins games.
