its already a pointless comp, this just adds to its meaningless. no wonder no-one follows qrl or nsw cup.
You do have a tendency to post some nonsensical garbage.

So it’s not really surprising that once again your own lack of knowledge towards anything remotely relevant highlights the buffoonery to which you manoeuvre your rugby league thoughts in.

Maybe time for you to give up the sport bud.

Really? When did that happen?

The only thing close to that I recall was Panthers vs Tigers in Rd7, 2012.

Ch9 crammed in so many ads into the delayed broadcast of that game to the point where portions of the second half were edited out so that the broadcast could finish bang on 6pm🤣. What a joke! You could clearly see it was a cut-and-paste job by the editors (e.g. one moment you're watching play in the 52nd minute, and then the coverage abruptly jumped to play in the 56th minute etc), as Ch9 knew they were running over-time and broadcasting the full game would've gone way past 6pm. Furthermore, I still remember that day Ray Hadley (filling in for Ray Warren) crapping on non-stop about how Rabs had gone down to the Logies in Melbourne to represent the NRL Footy Show (which they won).

The more embarrassing moment for Wide World of Delayed Sports was the Australia vs New Zealand 2008 RLWC test match at the old SFS. Channel 9's (delayed) broadcast began at 8:30pm. That's where everything went downhill. I couldn't believe how many ads Ch9 sprinkled throughout the match, so much so to the point where the Fox Sports' replay (which began an hour later at 9:30pm) actually finished earlier than the Channel 9 broadcast! ROFL! Fox's coverage of the game finished at 11pm, whereas the full-time whistle occurred at close to 11:30pm on Channel 9.
Channel 9 have always been up to crap like this. There are obviously some AFL foot soldiers in the sports department making the decision to promote the AFL grand final despite having the NRL rights. I’d also be surprised if, having read numerous pro AFL ratings reports from apparently “official” sources, the AFL didn’t have foot soldiers involved in these apparently unbiased reports. These ratings are the leverage to extract hundreds of millions of dollars in subsequent broadcast deals after all.

Also , what’s the point of the AFL naming an “all Australian team” when international AFL is non existent?

It's a bit like American baseball playing for the "World Series", or in the NHL, NBA and NFL when they refer to the comp's winner as "World Champions".

A 18 team draw is easy

Team 1 v Team 2
3 v 4
5 v 6
7 v 8
9 bye

Team 1 remains static as teams 2 to rotate for 9 weeks

You do the same for

Team 10 v Team 11
12 v 13
14 v 15
16 v 17
18 bye

Within your pool you play home & away - 18 rounds

To address cross pool games - the two bye teams play each other. You do a minor adjustment so you get a full 2nd full round of cross pool games during those 18 rounds

Cross pool games play home & away over 2 years

That leaves 7 more rounds of cross pool games

25 rounds

Easy

You can pay me a few million dollars for that

It's so they can exclude however many African / Irish players from being included. Do people from those areas still play it? Last I knew (quite a number of years ago now) there were one or two floating around their game.

In all seriousness, though, it's clearly to make themselves sound like they have some sort of prestige about their sport. Like it has some kind of relevance outside Australia's borders. Small dog syndrome. If it barks loud enough and long enough, maybe others will think it's a bigger dog than it actually is.

he NSW government has staved off poaching threats to retain the NRL grand final.
This masthead can reveal the NRL has struck a deal for the grand final to remain in Sydney in 2026 ahead of Sunday’s decider between the Broncos and Storm at Accor Stadium.
It is understood a formal announcement from the NRL is imminent.
NSW premier Chris Minns is keen for Homebush to host the NRL grand final for a longer term with the parties having discussed Accor Stadium also potentially securing rugby league’s biggest game of the season for 2027.
But the one certainty is the NRL grand final is not leaving the Harbour City next year in a multimillion-dollar coup for the NSW government.
The NSW government has been under siege to retain the NRL grand final since 2021, when the Covid pandemic forced the governing body to break with history and stage a maiden decider at Suncorp Stadium in Queensland.
In the post-Covid era, the battle for the NRL grand final has intensified, with Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth having tabled lucrative offers in a bid to steal the decider from Sydney.

ARL Commission boss Peter V’landys has spoken about the prospect of emulating the NFL Super Bowl in America by potentially moving the NRL grand final around Australia to other markets.
But the NRL grand final is one of Australian sport’s iconic events and the NSW government is determined to keep it for decades to come.
V’landys was tight lipped when asked about the future of the grand final when he spoke to the media earlier this week.
Asked whether a destination had been determined for the 2026 decider, V’landys replied: “Come to the next press conference on Thursday.”
He then quipped: “We’re going to Vegas.”
When it was pointed out that Suncorp Stadium had put up a strong case for Brisbane to host the decider after the Broncos-Panthers preliminary final blockbuster last Sunday before 52,491 fans, V’landys again played a straight bat.
“Stay tuned for Thursday, you never know,” V’landys said.

The NRL’s greatest coach Wayne Bennett, who won all six premierships for the Broncos, said the NRL grand final should never be relocated.
“Grand finals for me have always been Sydney,” he told this masthead recently.
“In the NRL, that’s where the grand finals are played.
“It just doesn’t seem right to move it.
“With all the grand finals I’ve experienced, you know there is something special when you are coming to Sydney for the big game.
“I’ve always been a believer that the grand final should be played in Sydney, I just believe that and no-one will ever change their mind about that.
“There’s just something special about grand final day at an 80,000-seat stadium at Homebush.”

It also shows just how Irish the game really is. All-Ireland is a sporting term in Ireland referring to the national team being made up of players from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Completely irrelevant term in an Australian context.

Not really. The term is used in other countries. All American can refer to the best college football players in the US for example.
