It’s the qrl call
The QRL don’t control these decisions- it purely the clubs.

as a Falcons fan, this really pisses me off- all this association will be means that the Broncos plunder Sunshine Coast Juniors without giving anything back.

The Broncos are just treating SEQ as their fiefdom and are trying to snooker the Dolphins and Titans in their dealings. Someone should have the ability to chop this shit down…..

Looks like they will be running with a reserve team in 2027 anyway(along with the other 3 QNRL teams), so it's all a bit of a nothing burger.

For what it’s worth my view is that;

Broncos: Wynnum, Easts, Souths, Toowoomba
Titans: Tweed, Burleigh, Ipswich
Dolphins: Redcliffe, Norths, SC, CQ
Cowboys: Cairns, Townsville, Mackay

Always made sense to me in the current environment.

However, what we have instead is;
Broncos: SL Magpies, WM Seagulls, Burleigh & SC Falcons
Titans: TH Seagulls and Jets
Dolphins: Redcliffe, Devils and Capras
Cowboys: Pride, Cutters and I believe Blackhawks are returning in 2026 (not sure if confirmed yet).

PNG will have Hunters. Bears look likely to snare Tigers on a xx-deal.

Clydesdales remains up for grabs. Titans are looking, as are Bears. The darling downs Lockyer valley region is a such an entrenched RL nursery. I can’t see it remain untouched for too much longer. People are certainly pushing for current clubs and incoming clubs to have a good look into it.

It’s interesting seeing Perth’s movements with Easts Tigers happening as Melbourne Storm is pulling out of feeder arrangement deals and focussing on Melbourne. Seems Bears may set up in their early years similar to how Melbourne did it until building up junior numbers locally.

I agree mostly with your recommendations, I would just do a straight swap of Souths Logan to Titans and Ipswich to the Broncos. For me Ipswich is ground zero Broncos territory, where Logan attaches well to the Gold Coast. The alignment of Ipswich and Logan is far overstated and Logan to Gold Coast is understated.

I agree with you about Souths Logan/Titans but while they have deep ties in the actual south side of Brisbane itself (due to the amalgamation), it’s hard to disengage the Souths part of Magpies from the Broncos.

End of the day their traditional home at Davies Park, West End is technically the closest existing club to Red Hill and Suncorp (well, ever since Wests Panthers dropped out of Q-Cup). Literally across the river.

Now had Souths Logan remained seperate entities with both Logan Scorpions and Souths Magpies then it wouldn’t be a conversation but a’las it exists and I cannot see Broncos dropping Magpies any time soon.

I also agree that Jets should be with Broncos but for some reason that affiliation has never really blossomed.
