It's taking the enjoyment out of the spectacle.

This feels like a Klein refereed game. Bloke with the whistle is controlling momentum and ignoring things when it feels extra punishing on the team who need help. The best recent grand final was 2023 where the referee just let the teams play footy. How has Gee been demoted so far for referees that no one outside of the NRL thinks are doing a decent job.

Gee has been absolutely awful since then though.

I think they would. High quality point scoring acts, plenty of moments.

I don’t think Madge worries about tactics too much. Just flogs them into tip top shape then tells them to get out there and play.

The refereeing. OMG. If it's a sin bin in round 5 at Wollongong then it's a sin in in the grand final. You can't change the rules for a different stage. NRL going down a very dangerous path with these interpretations

I sometimes wish more coaches would be that. The 2010s in particular were marred by shit teams who refused to change from their game plan no matter how shit they were or how few points they scored. I want to see more average teams give their stars a chance and throw caution to the wind.
