2025 finals series

If the Tigers went out and played like Brisbane and Melbourne did last night we would have ended up with 4 players binned and conceded about 15 penalties.
Yeah, there was certainly an excessive amount of cheap shots and the grub out there from both sides.

And the odd over-officiating and Oscar nomination.

We would have been gassed by the 30th minute at that early pace.

Bellamy said it’s possible to stop Walshy by tackling him. I enjoyed his very salient and matter of fact assessment. He’s on another level of thinking bout coaching.

It’s cold, lonely, brutal.

He had the less dominant side, but he got them right in it. They decimated us if I recall.

Bellamys insights in defeat were a highlight of the event for me. I must be getting old.

I had annoying kids running in front of the tv but I didn't think Stefano was as bad as some say? The time his stats were down Melbourne didn't have possession for 20 minutes after they had their Mick Neil ankle tap moment.

Hass warming the bench and coming on fresh is like a cheat code in the modern game. The interchange rule is nonsense. Come off, stay off. Anyway hate them both.

I agree that we didn’t have the cattle, but I don’t think the club or the players bought in to Madge’s philosophy, you only had to go back through the media at the time, especially towards the end of his stint to know that the machinations within the club were negative and corrosive, and it wasn’t just any individual responsible, the soul of the club was the same for years it wasn’t just with Madge, at every turn it seemed there was too many excuses and no one prepared to batten down the hatches and do the tough stuff. We just churned through coach after coach as an excuse.
I think you can put any spin on an ex coach to make him look like a victim.. Bottom line after 3 years of descending results from 9th to last with no sign of any change Madge lost support.. and fair enough..That it was the players fault is inaccurate.... If a coach can’t get the players to listen, that’s his fault not the players.
Madge was unhinged .. He was severely lacking in comms skills: empathy, patience, all the things all the good coaches have ..The tiger town vid illustrated madges lack of judgement for what works and the head space he was in at the time …instead of it showing everyone that he was doing all he could to get success, it backfired and let everyone see the mad tyrant he was and gave everyone a reason to laugh at the club even more.

That “mad tyrant” just won a premiership!

Anyway good to see this thread lit up eventually.. pretty sad shit tho considering that was the best individual performance from Walsh in a final ever.. And hardly mentioned. I think we have to move on..can’t change the past… burdens are toxic

I think Madge came in for some undue criticism.

Sure we were struggling and the project was floundering, but life after Madge couldn’t get any worse.

Results are one thing, but the management was even worse.

I’ve just found out that the club is going to robo-debt woofy and my membership. Reach into my account and take what’s theirs.

So I don’t have to do anything. Lol

Not that I'd question Bellamy's reasoning but I thought it odd during the whole final series Melbourne didn't seem to do any attacking kicks to Coates. He is such a weapon and I can't remember one cross field bomb to him. Seemed to be attacking down Warbricks wing more....history now but you don't change something that works so well for you.

Yeah, I’ve heard a like theory.

One play I’d like to see more of from us is the proper up and under & pressure from kicks on the fifth.

I was quite enjoying them during the finals.

I thought on the line, Brisbane had the stronger side, so to be fair, I think Bellamy had a pretty fair grand final.

He wouldn’t accept that, he hates losing. Blamed his players a bit which flatters them because he believes they could have won it, that he had faith that they could.

He drew short of saying that the Broncos were the better team. He qualified it.

And he didn’t get carried away with Walshy and his astonishing game.

He’s a pretty interesting customer, Benji could might be better off following Craig’s insights instead of Bennys.

Like Ivan, he’s continually evolving. I think good coaches have this quality about them. It’s a way of thinking, very hard to master and to keep going.

Both are playing good footy after slow starts to their seasons. Papilii in particular looked way off the pace when he joined Penrith. He looked slow and puffed out all too easily but credit to him in that he appears to have done the hard work.

I agree that Stefano has developed another gear that we never saw at the Tigers. It sucks for us but he has clearly made the right call for his career. As for IP, I disagree. He is absolutely fitter than he ever was with us. I think he could go back to his old Parra form with another off-season under his belt.
Attitude and fitness go hand in hand.

Yeah that was an odd one.

The fallout from the morons in the media over Melbourne's loss is comical though. Get rid of Munster, get rid of Paps, Bellmany has passed his used by date. You'd think they got the spoon. Paps so close at the end to the winning try, the chasing defenders had given up. I wish Tigers had these problems.

Yeh, it's a bit like, if only we did this and if only we did that, maybe we wouldnt have got a set of wooden spoons.

What we have, is what we have, but they are mostly all tried and tested within the team, KPP should add to this without too much drama.
We should build well for next year, hopefully enough, but watching some of the finals games, we are still a bit of a way from being competitive, if the team isn't prepared to make the sacrifices that are required.

The key is holding the team together.
Bellyache built a dynasty of having some of the best in the nrl era play together ...Cronk, Smith, Slater ect. We need our best players to stick around.
