Why are the NRL TV ratings up so much this year? Not just the grand final but the finals and the season in general.

Even teams outside the 8 - Souths, Dolphins, Eels, Manly, Cowboys, Saints, Knights, Titans, Tigers - played some exciting and entertaining games, won a share of games, and have decent fan bases who tune in to watch.
I’m a Souths man and despite injuries and doom n gloom, people still went to games and watched. Plus we have more regional coverage with Canberra, Illawarra, Newcastle, NQ and NZ with the Wahs.
Kudos to the players.
Imagine what Perth and PNG adds and then a 2nd NZ team and maybe Adelaide.
Just wish the NRL media would move in from the moaning negativity.

Have you been watching the games?
The footy being played is the best it's ever been, and the comp is the closest it's ever been. At the start of the finals series there was 6 sides that were a serious chance of winning the comp.
Bunker still needs to be blown up and refs stick the whistle away

Too many clubs who don’t invest in juniors and are continual rabbles

Imagine nrl if it wasn’t dominated by four sides that’s where it could go

you're also aware V'landys renegotiated the tv rights for less money over covid?

It's his only blemish though since taking charge of the game.
Of course I`m aware, I just find it a bit tiresome how quickly some cast shade, some, not yourself, even calling him names, after all that he has done to set it up to get it right this time.
Bit of gratitude and at least some other time please, but not today.

No - I am talking about actual people watching. Numbers are from 2024 etc but big Warriors games get over 500k watching not reach

We've covered this before here. It was absolutely reported as Reach, and noted by the Warriors in their article.

  • NRL Season 2025 (Regular Season + Final Series) has seen growth of +11.5% on Total TV, recording a National Total TV Average Audience of 614,000 per match (the highest for a NRL Season in VOZ history).
  • The NRL Finals series has recorded its highest Audience in VOZ History with over 1.1 million people tuning into every game (up 33.3% year-on-year) on Nine.
