All it does is further magnify wealth gap in the NRL and that the top clubs can not only fill their team full of rep players but also can hoard the next era at the same time while other clubs can barely hold onto a promising junior.

Loan deals simply undermine the effect of the Salary Cap.

Current NRL players must have rocks in their heads if they are offered and pass up R360 contracts. The Economics are so compelling - they are a NO Brainer.

Lets take Zac Lomax for example. He is on $650K at Parra which equates to $374K after tax.

Now imagine he is offered US$2M per season by R360. That's A$3.03M (tax free) or 8 yes 8 times his current after tax salary.

Think about it - he plays from Oct - Dec 2026 for the same money that he will earn from playing NRL from 2026 - 2033.

Imagine what Reece Walsh and his social media impact is worth to R360. Easily US$5M or (A$7.6M) per season.

BTW - why ain't our beloved in-house journos reporting about the enormous wealth available to the players through R360. All they are doing is criticising any player who intends to break a contract.

So it appears the magical US$2M tax free amount per year is not far off the mark if we are to believe the reports of the amount being associated with Payne Haas. I wonder if Zac Lomax is now on a Zoom call with R360 principals asking for most favoured nation status?

So where does that price someone like Reece Walsh. Should Reece be able at extricate himself from his Broncos contract and be prepared to be the global face of the R360 - he should be able to command US$5M per season. That's A$7.6M tax free - enough to buy a mansion with seven toilets where he could source water from a different latrine every day of the week.

The NRL are doing well to minimise publicity on R360 by just ignoring it. Any effort to keep star players in the NRL via some sort of marquee player set-up would be financial folly. The ashes of Super League still smulder in the recent past.
Their best option is to play the PGA/LIV card. Players that want to go to R360 should be allowed to go. The hope would be that R360 is broadcast solely on You Tube and doesn’t cut through mainstream media in Australia similar to the way LIV golf lives solely on You Tube with no commercial media outlet, only existing in local golf fan’s minds for one week in Adelaide.

Money has really ruined this game. A necessary evil but now its a bigger focus than the skill all the while contracts are not worth jack. And to think this r360 cash is pocket change to EPL and NBA players.

Sea Eagles set to add another prop for 2026​

Departing St George Illawarra Dragons forward Viliami Fifita has reportedly signed on with the Manly Sea Eagles for the 2026 season.

The 24-year-old prop began his journey in the Sea Eagles pathways system before switching to the St George Illawarra Dragons in the middle of 2023 in a player swap that saw the now retired former Origin forward Aaron Woods go the other way.
