From the article from Bullflog Ritchie ..

“R360 insiders are aware that luring multiple stars away from rugby league could weaken the NRL’s next broadcast deal which starts in 2028.

There have been discussions at R360 around the strength of Australian Rugby League but an awareness that the game isn’t truly global..
Dean Ritchie admitted on NRL 360 a month ago that he’ll write anything for the clicks. He laughed when he said it but at the end of the day that’s his job.

On topic the only question is what effect if any does this have on our TV deal. Let’s say worst case scenario happens and Haas, Munster, Cleary, Walsh and a few other big names announce next year they’re jumping ship. I’m not convinced it’ll have any impact but it would be annoying for sure.

Most ‘journalists’ involved with league are a bunch of mouth breathing leeches who’d be happy to see the game go up in flames if they got a few clicks.

Why didn’t someone bid more then if it’s worth a $100m?

Means nothing … it’s the sweetener you get with the NRL rights
Seven will probably bid again this time for it if Pvl allows it lol

And it will be way more than that bid

Even if nine pay 175 million in total nest time, over half that is origin which means they are paying half what afl get for their fta rights

So much value in nrl tv rights for both fta and pay tv

If Pvl had guts he would split up origin and then let the club competition match up against what the afl get

Time will tell …he spilt the World Cup for $12 mil lol

Ah remember when posters on here were saying nine and fox were financially strapped and limited what they could offer nrl

Fox has even more fire power now to keep its number one product

Good to see Stan pushing Fox for the f1 rights

Should we be excited by that article ? No quotes at all about the NRL rights from anyone important ..

I’m glad DAZN is losing less money now though… although that might not be an issue with further investment from the Saudi Wealth Funds

News sold off 95% of its holdings, it can't exactly have been a cash cow.

Putting off the rights deal to next year, suggest they have only been given low ball offers so far.

Seeing a record tv deal is going to trigger some of the so called rugby league accounts who posts on this thread

Some of these people spent years telling us league could never match afl because they have a “national” competition or cause their game goes for 3 hours

Even if Pvl gets 650 to 700 million pa whoever gets it is going to make money off it

League is the only most have content in Australia and it’s growing international presence will only enhance future tv deals

Nrl is becoming the nfl of Australian sports when it comes to tv networks

Suggests to you of course.
Only this week V`landys said categorically " this will be a record deal".
Doubling down like that suggests to me he is pretty certain of this.
This is not a criticism, we have rushed and signed low ball offer before from 9 and Fox.

I think its a good thing that we wait.

Not for mine, RL should have been as big if not bigger than AFL in the last deal, its a myth that we have suddenly become a big TV sport.

We have been that since 1995.

The underselling of the rights has been the issue, and Pete has been just as bad as any administrator to date.
