Surely we keep Smith, but his price will be driven up by struggling clubs. Sorro is nearing the end and Henry isn’t a must keep,he can be replaced by Patea.

Smith is in no way a forward leader.

Maybe if he moves to lock but as a prop his first stint is pretty plod.

As teams tire he runs good lines and had footwork but a team would be nuts to throw the bank at him.

Id love to keep Smith. Yeo won't be around forever.

Depends how Philips goes next year. Not sure where I am n him overall but he is clearly a Yeo type, def a better passer and ball player than Lindsay but need to see how he handles the rest of a middles work at the NRL level.

Jackson Hastings, Sean O’Sullivan, Tim Smith all average players. These are average Halves… Luke Walsh is another

The players you listed are all above them.

Some of the players are better sure but perry and chad i dont know. All those players bar walsh had enough talent to put win a premiership in that 06 broncos team. Straight swap with any of those players with Perry and the donkeys still win. Perry was just a tough guy who never did very much with the ball. Like Peter wallace in the halves, maybe not even that good. The sharks team in a swap with Chad I dont know, SOS i think could tho maybe hastings to. Chad got benched by the coach during the 2016 finalsif you remember, he came back into the starting side for GF but he literally got benched for a game in the finals series that they won by two points, he wasnt having a year that was way better then his average, he was just in a better team.

The biggest knocks on Walsh have been;

1. He takes too many and too big risks at the wrong times
2. He lacks defensive positioning and the fitness to be in the right place (23 GF)

I think he has put that to bed, in particular #2. You substitute Edwards for Walsh in that Broncos GF side and Melbourne would have scored an extra 2-3 tries (not to mention that Broncos would have scored 12-18 fewer points). Madge has done an excellent job with the Broncos and their fitness generally, but particularly with Walsh.

Lost the plot @The Realist.

Unplayable (on his day) with ball in hand but still not worthy of cleaning old dawg Eddies boots defensively.

He has improved a lot. Walsh has the speed to catch players that would burn Edwards, and he has the fitness now unlike the 23 GF. Still has some positional deficiencies but Edwards isn't exactly perfect there either. Edwards effort on the Broncos winger is part of the reason we are talking about this and not celebrating #5.

We had chances to win in the second half but i feel melbourne had more chances and better field position then Penrith did in the 2nd half prelim.

Brisbane timed it almost perfectly against us, only having to hold off Penrith for 1-2 sets to win the game -

Broncos had the lead for 20+ mins to defend and Storm created opportunities but had poor execution -

Papenhuyzen not backing himself then Warbrick dropping the ball) and Papenhuyzen not getting wider of Katoa meaning Walsh was able to cover Katoa and Pap defensively (and Walsh deserves the praise for that, it was a helluva defensive play)

also Kamikamica catching and scoring that try early 2nd half - would have been close to curtains then as well

You realise that you have to perform across the entire season right. It’s not just about the GF.

Ben Hornby played for NSW and Australia.

Mitchell Pearce played for NSW

Matt Orford won a Dally M

these aren’t things that average players do.
