2 or 3 tries were saved due to his defence. If Edwards does the same and we're talking him up. This thread is juat being biased because he's Reece Walsh who plays for the broncos.
No mate he wasn't anywhere close to being in position for 3 or 4 tries. I think Walsh is hilarious and what he did with the ball was very special but watch the game again he was very lazy.

The pressure from Walsh hitting the arm is what causes the drop over the line and he's the one who double defended so Paps doesn't get what should be a guaranteed storm try to win the game.

And? If he was in position the Brisbane win by 20

There's some genuinely bad faith analysis going on here simply because people don't like Walsh. Guy saves multiple tries nah that doesn't count. What happened to being the only honest one here?

And the first two tries he should have stopped but didn’t because he was out position? Edwards saves those because he’s smarter.

He’s constantly out of position, particularly on kicks. It’s got nothing to do with who he plays for. I same the exact same thing about Kaeo Weekes.

I like Walsh he's great fun. What is happening is some of the worst recency bias I've seen in a good while.
Walsh's overall performance was better than Nathan in 23. I'm not bitter, I'm spitting facts.

He has improved a lot. Walsh has the speed to catch players that would burn Edwards, and he has the fitness now unlike the 23 GF. Still has some positional deficiencies but Edwards isn't exactly perfect there either. Edwards effort on the Broncos winger is part of the reason we are talking about this and not celebrating #5.

Absolutely, Walsh has improved.

Using one example though, Walsh’s miss (or overread) on Meaney for the first try is comfortably as bad as Edwards’ “miss” on Mariner. Completely different circumstances, but the fact the Mariner try (in the PF) is even being framed as an Edwards error, while nothing is said about the Walsh play, shows the differing levels of the two.

@Oldpanther86 if we’re showing team bias you’re showing recency bias. Walsh made a couple of big defensively plays, the stop on Paps and the knock on Kamikamica’s arm early in the second half - both great plays - but I wouldn’t bet against Edwards making either of those. He's made a career out of those plays.

Edwards didn’t have his best year, but he still made some massive plays for us that get completely overlooked - numerous 40/20s stopped when he had no right to do so (including the PF), general positioning stopping any half break etc. He’s being seriously undervalued on the back of that Walsh performance.

This started because I said if someone watched those 2 games specifically you'd think Walsh was the better fullback. Edwards 2022/23 shits on Walsh from a great height in defence but this year edwards doesnt save those tries. He certainly missed some he himself would've saved in previous years.

Funny I think cleary 23 is better.

I rate edwards better in defence overral but you can see a shift happening towards Walsh and away from edwards as far as form goes. So yeah there is a bit of recency bias but not the kind you think.

Nathan's final 25 was outstanding- but he wasnt doing alot before then

for Walshs defensive lapses first half, he scored one of the best GF tries you will ever see and then went on with it in the second half defensively & offensively.

still not as clean as Priddis 2003 though :p

Those defensive lapses from Nathan for the Cokehead's hattrick were even worse than Walsh

Best GF tries you’ll ever see??? That’s a massive stretch , there have been some cracking GF tries.

I’d rate Cody Walkers against us higher.

The defensive efforts from the Storm on that try were awful…. have a look at Trent L’s attempt to tackle… it’s pretty funny

Levi ticks some boxes but not others.

I hope we can do a bit better. 30 years old in December.

Its funny calling out Edwards for not stopping Mariner while also giving Walsh a pass for not stopping Warbrick.

He's lucky he connected with Papenhuyzen so sweetly when doing that weird flying jump tackle he does when trying to stop a player who's clean through. If he bounces off Papenhuyzen (like he usually does in those situations, including twice on Sunday) who goes on to score the match winning try we're having very different conversations about who the games premier fullback is.

Anyway, I dont have a problem with Walsh. But he remains a ridiculously lopsided player. Perhaps the most lopsided I've ever seen.

He is the best player in the game right now. This is 2009 Hayne like form. I dont think its sustainable but right now he is the best fullback and player in the game.
