New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

It is not exactly like the Newcastle scenario. Basically everyone in Newcastle who is a sports fan is a Knights fan as either their first team or second team - every sports fan in Newcastle is a Rugby League fan.
I think (could be wrong) that there are a fair few sports fans in Auckland, there is 1.7million of them, that aren't yet RL fans. They are up for grabs and a rivalry would rattle them into interest. Also some competition could be good for the Warriors like it has been for Broncos. If the Warriors won a GF it would be huge for the game there.
Wellington looks too small for an NRL team.
Christchurch will be perfect, there's 1 million people on the south island and they capture a few anti Auckland supporters too.
NZ has this thing where everyone outside Auckland hate Auckland - Jafa's , so a team outside of Auckland will create a bigger rivalry than an inner Auckland one would.
Auckland is the big smoke in NZ but if you spend much time there, you won't find many Aucklanders or NZnders or people who speak English!
It's a very high immigration population that don't vibe on Rugby league and Why the Wahs still play at a 25k stadium.
I'm not saying it can't work but there's better options and until the Warriors have had to move to Eden Park and average 35k , is put it on the back burner.

Why do you think there are potential undiscovered fans out there that would come to league if a new team entered Auckland? The Warriors are on a three year popularity high, any potential fans up for grabs are going to come for the Warriors not for an unknown team.

FFS you talk some bollocks.

Please elaborate? There's not a predominantly migrant population in Auckland?
When were you last there? And please spare us from your experience leading up to an All blacks game..
I spent about 10 days staying in the city, mate, it's worse than Sydney.

I'm in Auckland a minimum of 2 times a year and was most recently there in August, but regardless of that a simple look at census data shows that over 90% of Aucklanders speak English - not sure what weird non English speaking enclaves you were getting yourself tangled up in. Plus, the immigrant numbers in Auckland and Sydney are both around 40%.

I see, so you took that seriously. Obviously most people in Auckland speak English, even if it is there second language.
My point was the high amount of immigrants, about 40%. Meaning although it's a big population, there's a large ( close to half) part that won't be interested in Rugby league as it's not in their culture.
As you've pointed out 40%, means you agree? Yet decide to be a prick? Oh well.

Maybe read my post again, I thought I made an obvious ramp up in exaggeration in satire to make my point.
Or stop being so up tight/ prick.

Look, going by your posting history in this thread it's really not outside the realms of possibility that you posted that seriously - and then you doubled down with another story of being in NZ. At any rate I said you talked some bollocks, and you're admitting you talked some bollocks, so maybe don't be a prick about being called out on your bollocks talking.

Good thing you " called me out" lol you even backed me up with your own 40% call.
Keep up the great work 👍

I called you out on the English, you know the part you've admitted was bollocks.

I discussed the 40% based on a follow up question from you.

Only twice a year? Clearly you don't know as much as someone who pretends to be born there.

Even for the King of Bullshit and Dickheadry that is @Gobsmacked this is a wild take:

You also have to be STONED out of your mind to claim Christchurch is a bigger RL heartland than Auckland.

And ONLY 25k? You mean far above the average of EVERY other club in the NRL not named the Broncos?

Calm down princess. 25k isn't a great deal for a 1 team Town of 1.5 million was the point, didn't say it was bad, just doesn't scream add another team.

And " Stoned" like... Stoned enough to read something that was never written?? Yep , that's pretty stoned.

I love when you guys get together for these group brain farts lol

This is the top 4 crowd averages in ALL of Rugby League, shit probably for all Rugby codes in the world

Your attempt to spin that the Warriors aren't smashing it crowd wise, shows you are disingenuous shit talker.

For comparision in 2024, the Crusaders averaged 12k to a game in Chch, with a season high of 17k

Given its the No1 sport in this region, by some margin, you have to assume any SI RL team would be one of the lower attended sides in the comp.

keep digging...lol
I love the Warriors crowds, I've posted about their success numerous times. But 25k doesn't mean another team will pull close to that.

Every NRL game on the South Island has sold out and comparing SR crowds is hilarious, that comp isn't half what NRL is and the support is split between 2 franchises... And they have to sit through a game of Union lol

You're just jumping at the opportunity to pile on with your little click here. I don't think you're making serious points but it's a fun exercise.

O and I not sure if you're aware but Christchurch is getting a band New full enclosed stadium, which makes these crowd averages irrelevant.

Christchurch would certainly challenge the Warriors crowd averages.
