Not even close I'm sorry.

2009 Hayne was lengths ahead. And Hayne did it with Keating, Mortimer and Kingston.

Best individual run of form I have ever seen from a back/spine player.
2021 Turbo also better and Barba forget the year

Michael Morgan/Walsh is a better comparison.

This shouldn't be a shit on Walsh thread. I'm full of praise for him. He played some very good football and played a huge part in that trophy.

But I think some perspective is needed. Especially with our guys. Doing it for 4 premierships in the a row is mind blowing. By comparison half a season of great form and winning a comp isn't on the same level.

If Walsh gets through next year and gets them close or wins a comp he will deserve further praise.

He is the best player in the game right now. This is 2009 Hayne like form. I dont think its sustainable but right now he is the best fullback and player in the game.

Broncos won't stay up like the Panthers did. Edwards issue at the end of the year was fatigue wish they didn't take him for the internationals but hopefully he doesn't play and drinks whatever passes for good beer over there and puts his feet up.

Edwards v Walsh,
two completely different fullbacks.
Walsh gets all the love because of his highlights reel, which I must admit are what most people like to watch including myself.
Edwards is all effort and pure fitness.
Walsh has unquestionable natural talent and flare.
Edwards has the best positional play.
Walsh has explosive speed and a great cutout pass.
Edwards is one of if not the safest fullbacks in goal defence.
Walsh is pretty much involved in most of the Broncos trys.
Edwards has the best kick return in the game, although this year he almost lost that title.
Both can goal kick though Walsh is a better goal kicker.
If you watch Edwards off the ball the guy never stops moving, he is a machine.
Walsh walks most of the time but knows when to inject himself into the game, it's like he is in a constant standby mode but than explodes.
If you have Edwards in your side than you really need other players to create try involvements.
If you have Walsh in your side than you need other players to do the dirty work on carries 1,2 & 3.
They both play the game differently from the same position.
Edwards has 4 rings.
Walsh now has 1.
I'd have either player in my side but you have to have the other pieces in place to make their game effective.
Both are great fullbacks but it depends on the way you want your team to play.

Summed it up very well.

Look at Kalyn Ponga at Newcastle. He alone can't get that team running. Has to have support from the rest of the 17.

I'd say Ponga is the biggest problem at Newcastle.
He takes up too much cap space.
prone to injury and concussion.
Does not play enough games during the year to justify his pay packet.
The sooner Newcastle get rid of Ponga the sooner they can spend the money where they need it. Oh wait they bought Dylan Brown.
I guess they'll never learn.

I think they should release him too. But he can be their Walsh if he stays on the field.

I think Dbags is a fine signing but the price and length is monstrous. Their cap must be stuffed at this point.

Walsh made his debut for Wahs in 2021. Its not as if he has just dropped out of the sky, over 4 years to establish himself.
Edwards for me.

I prefer Edwards myself and he has 4 premiership rings to go with it.
But I also think Ivan would know how to make it work with Walsh too, we had a similar player in Moylan who could also attack from nothing and had a beautiful pass.
Ivan never got the chance and Moylan ended up at the Sharks.

Ivan played maybe 10 worse fullbacks than Moyza before playing him. He didn't know what he had at all

He was far more conservative back then. Or maybe our system wasn't as oiled as it is now and he didn't think they were ready. Or a late bloomer. The last option wouldn't surprise me with Moylan.

Ivan is on record saying he wouldn't have debuted Nathan at 18. For all his faults Hook was able to see his value.

Ivan is happy to debut younger players these days. So something has changed.
