Origin should be for players who want to play for the Roos

If nz and islanders are paid the same as origin players ie 30k per game then you can’t say they are choosing origin for dollars

I get your view has a lot of support from league people even Gus Gould supports it

I’m sceptical
The simple fact is Origin currently isn't for players who want to play for the Roos.

Given this, and assuming it's not changing, don't you think that eligible NZers should be able to play Origin like eligible PIs?

Also, I've never once said that players are choosing Origin for money so not sure where that has come from.

For the kiwis I’d be more worried about choice of coach, the warriors producing more nz players than this issue which to me is trivial to the kiwis fortunes
It's not zero sum, we can have a shit coach and at the same time the rules can be unfair against us preventing us from picking our best sides. Also, let's not rely on the Warriors, they have 3 players in the KIwis, all who had their main development in overseas clubs.

Nope they shouldn’t allow kiwis for origin and yeh it’s unfair if you want

Nz has a nation of five million to themselves

Tonga and Samoa have no nrl club of their own

Nz are favourites v Samoa this week too

Probably favourites to win the pacific cup

Origin hasn’t been a kangaroos trial for years.

Australia has 16 clubs. Most 90% of the development of players happens here and those pathways make them eligible for SOO, SOO you say then means they should be as KP was, forced to represent Australia.
Ok well that's your opinion, a very stupid one but it's one.

I'm a born and bred Queenslander and feel very passionate about QLD.
I know passionate Queenslanders who are as passionate as I am, lived most of their lives in QLD but we're born in NZ and are passionate about NZ- this is very common.
They are as much Queenslanders as they are Kiwi.
But your little brain can't quite comprehend this equation?
Yoo much?

Pay Kiwi players 30k a test

I doubt you’ll get them back though

Unlike in Union where the all blacks jersey is the lure for lots of Pacific Islander talent it’s the opposite in league

And that’s not a bad thing
All Black jersey is merely a vessel to earn more in France of Japan.

Get a few caps under ya belt and the cheques write themselves.

Pride in the jersey...eh

It’s a myth that NZ has 5million to themselves, it’s used by all 17 clubs to source players.
Same logic Melbourne has 5million to themselves yet still recruits 99% externally

Correct. And 5 million is approximately the total population of NZ which then assumes every child, adult and pensioner, no matter male, female or any other gender they wish to identify as follows league and is available or wants to play league.

And even then there is a significant portion of league casuals and diehards alike that do not support the Warriors.

Five million people is a large rugby market

Just behind Queensland

Even if it’s union dominated league has the money to make the difference

If @Matua is right and only 3 warriors players are in the kiwis then yeh that’s the issue

Not nz losing some players to Samoa and Tonga

And do you guys complain when it’s the all blacks signing Islander talent just to be consistent lol

All blacks don’t ’sign’ players it’s a representative team like how the kangaroos don’t sign players.
Second point is the All Blacks poaching Islanders is a racist stereotype by those that don’t understand the demographics of NZ, yes there’s the odd exception but the vast majority are multi generational New Zealanders, some of the white players are more recent immigrants.
Only SA and Argentina have less overseas born players.

The All Blacks don't sign players, but all players are centrally contracted to the National union, who's most powerful brand is The All Blacks.

There maybe a handful of overseas players who don't qualify for NZ yet on residency grounds - most do as they came out for schooling, or followed theory parents out after they came in on working visas and obtained residency. Pro tip - this is a major reason why the NRL has such a large PI player pool now!

There are a smaller handful who dont qualify at all. But the majority do, even if they have chosen to represent Samoa, Tonga, Fiji etc. So in a sense the All Blacks do sign players...just not all get to play for the team.

And then you have the 'sabbatical' rule...which is NZ Rugby's attempt to have its cake and eat it too. That toothpaste definitely ain't going back in the tune!
