His last two clubs won wooden spoons while he was there, and he was a disruptive influence at the two NRL clubs he played for before that.

I don't think we're that desperate just yet.
You are probably right JMcJ, but he does have some talent, and at 29 years old he must realise that HE is the problem, not the clubs that discarded him. Has he matured enough to wake up to himself? Only he knows the answer, so he would be a risk. Maybe an incentive based contract with him getting a bonus for playing NRL? I don't know the answer but hope that smarter people than me could have a look at him and see if he is worth a punt.

He's always been a very competitive player, and he definitely had talent. Is he still a talented half/five-eight? The fact that he wasn't the first choice for the wooden spoon team says to me that maybe his talent has faded. I wouldn't be surprised if his name came up in recruitment discussions but I don't think we gain anything by taking him on.

Hastings is a great player but lasts 1 season before being moved on. Something seems not right, it can't be just a coincidence.

He was a Saints junior and chose to leave on his own accord rather than stay on and fight for an NRL spot so to me that is a burnt bridge.

JH a talented jnr who had a sense of entitlement and an overblown ego and opinion of himself

That developed into a chip on his shoulder when things didn’t run his way

That then developed into a log that not even the Great Peter Foster could cut down to size.

I always thought John Bateman was a loose cannon but I read that even he couldn't stand being at the same club as Hastings in Super League. It's a huge no from me.
