According to an interview I heard with the head of the head of the NZ Players association … the 8 countries want to work with 360

I dunno,,,,I assume there will be some money involved …and 360 have agreed to release players for internationals

It’s a 12 week comp…maybe their domestic comps will be played around it …current club rugby loses shed loads and clubs going broke in the UK

Hopefully Union comps do the same. Otherwise the NRL will look pretty stupid.

If Players can't rejoin the NRL they'll go to a Union comp. No big problem for players.

If a club throws stupid money that causes them to go broke then they deserve it. This is only one or two players in a team, the rest would be paid under the salary cap, and if it helps keep talent like Walsh and Cleary in the game, then good.

Another way could be to give players more revenue from names on the back of jerseys. The game needs to come up with more ways to get star players more revenue. The amount of money that the Broncos pay Walsh is pittance compared to the value Walsh gives to the Broncos.

Completely agree with this. One or two marquee players per club allows stars to reach their earning potential and allows NRL clubs to fight off Union

Maybe the NRL could get clever and get all the NRL Clubs (wishful thinking as others have mentioned) to amend their funding agreements. Basically an NRL Club that signs a player that has gone to R360 is not entitled to their annual grant for as long as that player is contracted to them.

So R360 is a very sketchy concept to get involved with as a player, you don't know if it'll work, if you'll get paid of for how long it will last, you be in and out of airports to play a game you're not familiar with.
To add to that uncertainty, you'll face a ten year ban once you even entertain the idea.
That's a very steep cliff to look down.

If you're Reece Walsh, you have around 14 years left in League and you're already getting over a million a season, you have an opportunity to make history, be one of the games best ever and do anything you want around the game in retirement being involved in the game you love... Would you risk it with a rebel comp for a quick buck? Doubt it.

So I think this move by the NRL will protect our most precious stock.

NAS ? at the end of his career, struggling to hold down a first grade spot.. he'll probably take a punt but it'll be no big loss.

So all the best players in RU won't go because they want to be in the world cup and now the best players in League won't go, so.... For a comp that's promising " the best" is off to a ruff start!

The rule is a ten year ban for those involved in a competition that isn't formally recognized by them.
R360 is this. So it won't matter, if you play R360 you're banned.

Cleary comes across to me as someone who is very loyal. I don't see him leaving Penrith or the NRL anytime soon.

We cannot allow outside organisations to effectively steal our assets (the players) that we’ve invested heavily in, or artificially drive up the cost of keeping those players (as every agent will have an R360 price that they throw into every contract negotiation moving forward).
This cuts the head of the snake - if challenged in Court, this stance probably would be deemed a restraint of trade, however, it’s going to be a very brave player who’d choose to challenge it at this point, given R360 is nowhere near a certain thing. And surely the RLPA ain’t gonna whinge about this - as players being able to leave the NRL would do them harm.
