Barrett's in no hurry, and neither are any of the clubs.
Bulldogs’ supporters must still be suffering from PTSD after his coaching stint there. Five wins from 34 starts for a winning percentage of 14.7%. Gus famously took over the coaching duties for one of those wins (against the Roosters) which makes it four from 33 starts for a winning % of 12.1%. Less than credit card interest.

To put that into perspective Stephen Kearney had 10 wins from 42 starts during his time with the Warriors for a winning percentage of 23.81%.

I think Barrett 5 years. He is ready.

Slater to continue to prove himself at Origin level.

I think Barrett to Storm for ten, personally. He will mature and they will want him locked down long term. No release clauses ofc.

Make it happen Ponnisi

They missed the boat by not signing Pahulu from the Titans. He has a much higher ceiling than Thompson.

It was all agreed then he backed out cause I suspect that Melb sweet talked better. At that point I can see if from a players perspective that your pretty guarenteed to get better at Melb, while at the Dogs it was still unknown. We looked like a better spot to improve as a player by the end of the year and I hope we don't miss out on too many going forward.

No. I think they were pretty much the same. I think also being invisible in Melb vs being noticed in Sydney is also something that works in Melb's favour.

"Here's your offer from the Melbourne Storm. By the way, did you know that there is no RL media down here? That's right, you can do as much coke as you want!"

And even if you get caught in a photo with white powder in front of you, it will not hurt your career at all...

Maybe after these missed signings like AFB and Pahulu Gus needs to connect with the younger generation of players a bit better. Put up a few posters in the negotiating room walls like Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. Offer to share his Spotify playlist during the interview like Jack Harlow , Yung Lean and G Ezy. Wear a hoody and ear buds. Get some neck tattoos. A bagful of phone chargers. Get a bit more creative.

Sam Healey , son of Sharks’ stalwart Mitch , would be a good fit at Manly or the Bulldogs . Signed with the Warriors until 2027 though and the Warriors’ would be crazy to let him go as Wade Egan seems miss a lot of games through injury.
