Grant is the master of the dubious penalty.
Just to explain my point a bit more regarding escort penalties. The referees came up with a mild/moderate/severe grading on the run and applied by the bunker regarding high tackles. Well how about looking at possible escort obstructions as a continuum of unlikely/possible/blatant. The one in today’s NZ v Samoa women’s match I would classify as “unlikely”. The player pinged didn’t look at the chaser at any stage. She was positioning herself in front of her fullback . No problems with that. The fullback might drop it and she could clean up the scraps. Totally different if she was watching the chaser and positioning herself in front of the chaser.

These decisions are not black and white. They require the application of common sense and lots of time watching tapes of matches.

I love how after his good game for NZ, the media are hailing Dylan Brown's signing by Newcastle as a proverbial master stroke.

It's the issue with him. He can pull out games like yesterday's for the Kiwis, but can then go for games and games on end without approaching anywhere near that level of performance.

Thorougly enjoyed the contest. Kiwis started fast and were brutal in defence. Samoa weathered the Stiorm and used their strength to get back into the contest. Casey Mclean is fast becoming one of the best attacking centres in the game.
It felt like the Kiwis drifted a bit in the 2nd half and had Samoa converted their chances they would have won. I hope Mariota is OK,the long break immediately after his injury made it more worrying.

Are they though? Would be pretty hypocritical considering they’ve done nothing but hang shit on him and the club for the last 6 months about the signing before he’s even played a game for us.

Even if he plays like that every week he’s not worth 1.5 million except to a club like png

You got smith for 500k a year and I think they are almost on par

I liked what smith did at the chooks

Maybe paying overs for brown ends up big a good strategy huge gamble though
