He can be the main man at Brisbane. He can't at Parra until Moses is gone.
Let's be very honest...what has Jonah Pezet actually done or achieved to be even talking about a $500k plus contract??
Nothing...again i maintain hes more a 7 than a 6
I think Joash will end up being no better than Will Smith. No on that front I’m the opposite. I like Joash, but I don’t want to go into the year with him as our first choice if we can avoid it.
What if we sign him, he plays 20+ games and we just squeeze into the finals? Will you assume we would’ve done as well with Papalii or Talataina? Do you think the club believes those two are as good? Is it worth writing 2026 off just so they can play first grade? Is it that important to a player’s development? Pezet has only played 18 games and merkins were happy to sign him. Iongi had only played one NRL game when we decided we wanted him at fullback. NRL experience isn’t essential to a young player’s development and winning is more important for a club that’s missed the finals for three consecutive years. What are you going on about? You are arguing with so many people at once you are the one getting confused. I already mentioned that I often agree with your opinions, I’m not a sheep I don’t always agree with the crowd and smash the club for the sake of it.
I think Jim and MON (with the help of Ryles) pretty much nailed all our recruitment last season and credit to them.
On Pezet though I really don’t see the appeal in the signing. I think the negatives far outweigh any potential positives. Whatever facts and figures you try and justify it with I’m not going to agree with you.
Keen to see if he defends better than Talagi did against NZ.Iongi named at 6 this week for Tonga for those curious.

Should we sack Junior Paulo so he doesn't take any valuable game time from forwards who will be here in 2027?
I’d say the club has a better understanding of the answers you seek. We might not be able to sign most/any players on unders but we would at least be aware of it. We also know our goals for 2026 and I wouldn’t blame them if they want to win as many games as possible. Getting more NRL experience into Papalii or Talataina is potentially worth less than signing Pezet to help us win games for a year. The club would at least know which decision better supports their goals for 2026 and beyond.Nothing wrong with increasing win rate for a year but that’s all we potentially get out of this deal. Which….
Of course Pezet would be paid more but if that’s for a handful of likely insignificant wins in 2026, is he worth more than a handful of dollars? He isn’t an established player yet, let alone a genuine star. We are taking all the risk with no payback if/when he develops into an established player. So I might sign him but sure as f**k it wouldn’t be at the price he wants.
They probably wouldn’t be happy with it but they may accept it across 5-10 contracts. Or do you think they’d be happy with us either playing $500k below cap or just giving some player $500k even though they know that’s an inflated price that will affect perception of player values across the league?
And yet our starting 5/8 stocks are even worse. Go figure.we have 2 centres that wouldnt make any other starting 13 in the comp.....
Do you think Ryles wants to constantly prepare for the future? 2026 is time to start winning.
So why do you think they've done it? If they don't see a benefit, why would they bother?
