Why won’t they sign with us?

Every second day I hear on the radio highly sought after players going to the same old clubs who already have a star studded roster. I find it extremely frustrating we sometimes get a mention but as always it is how far it goes. Why do we always fall short, is it because?
We train in Wollongong?
Our dysfunctional board?
Ben Hunt savaging our brand to other rep players?
Lacking attractive 3rd party agreements for players?
We don’t cheat the cap as well as other clubs?
Our coaching staff?
Disgruntled fans being very negative about certain players and the team?

Is it all or some or other factors that work against us?

you forget that we often put a realistic offer in that somehow falls short by about 50k but we dont budge and then lose them

Good question! Don’t think players think about boards at all! I’d guess your point …lacking 3rd party agreements or painting and the “after football” picture may be influential. Think other clubs may be utilising this approach to entice and close big names more effectively, though pure speculation on my end…

Unfortunately to start winning we need a serious roster improvement for NEXT year...if we finish as an also ran next season all the youngsters we have will start to become disillusioned and be tempted by unscrupulous agents.

Extremely high opinions of themselves because of what their fathers did in totally different times.

Our no 7 walked out last season. In the halfback merry go round this season, from memory:
-DCE to roosters
-Fogarty to Manly
- Sandon Smith to Knights
-Galvin to Dogs
-Sexton to super league
- Metcalf re-signed
- Pezet to Eels/Broncos
I’ve probably missed some others. However, the question that needs to be answered, where the hell were the Dragons in all this? What’s going on? We lose our only 2 origin players last season and we are not even in the conversation for one of those 7’s? The excuse is “ohh, you know, there aren’t any marquee 7’s on the market.” Bullcrap, these other clubs, who by the way, all finished above is this season, can see value in these 7’s. Something is not right here. I’ve never seen a club struggle as much as the Dragons in signing players, even the Tigers, Knights and Titans seem to be able that recruit better.
