What are his characteristics as a player? Is he ready to walk into Daines position in the squad?

They are all too young to make that call mate. They are school boy players with much to learn. I’m not sure how you decide Cribb is a better player than Stokes.
I just went off his highlight real i thought it was pretty impressive but I don't know everyone's got their own opinions i guess

Talent evaluation is a massive crap shoot.

Look at American sports where the entire country watches the junior leagues and sure things are busts.

I assume the analytics nerds at Penrith know this and instead recruit multiple kids at the same position based on potential system fit.

So we have stocked up on young halves and fullbacks.
Have we signed any young hookers, or is that the next recruitment target?

Once again Munky, you've nailed it.

If there was a foolproof way to identify who will make it in the NRL, it would be fully implemented by now. It is just way too hard. Based on players I've seen and known over my life, there was one guy (Player A) who I would have never predicted that he would play in the NRL. Not only did he do it, he carved out quite a good career. On the other side of the coin, there was one player I have coached (Player B)that I absolutely thought that he would have played regular NRL. He actually did play 12 NRL games for two teams which is an achievement in itself. But, he did not touch the career that Player A had who was never a touted junior player.....but found his way eventually.

Yeah the thing about highlight reals is that they don’t show the low lights.

I’m not arguing that he’s not better, don’t get me wrong, but they are both very talented, so we will have to wait and see.

Great problem to have.

I think the young fullback signings make more sense in the context that the club knew Attard wansnt going to wait behind Edgar and Edwards so they signed a couple young guys and once the ink was dry granted his release. Attards a better talent then the young guys weve signed. I dont know the guy burleigh but the young storm guys are a year or two behind attard in development and maybe as talented anyway.

I could see 6 months ago we didnt have long to decide between attard and edgar, we've made our choice obviously. But this is why Daine had to go, if we extended him we would be releasing edgar this offseason as well. You might convince a highly talented kid to be patient for a couple years while they are in the back up spot like we did Iongi, but its hard sell convincing them to hang around as the 3rd or 4th guy on the depth chart anyone who is being offered a better path to FG will take it .

This is why im not to fussed about our champions finishing here over the next 5 years. That sentiment will cost us. If Edgar or one of these other kids explodes onto the seen in the next two years id rather let Dyl go while he is 31 or 32 even if hes somewhere near his best then let him hang on until hes 34 or 35. Same with Bizza. Yeo can eventually move to a bench role but we are going to have to be ruthless with some of these guys as the young kids start developing.
