No Coverage of the Kangaroos Tour in NZ?

Even though Sky will just do exactly what nrl.com would've done: play the English broadcast?

I guess you can record on sky if you don't feel like getting up at 2am
Yeah, I’m probably a bit of a dinosaur that isn’t a fan of streaming at all, and the recording and watching at your own convenience and being able to flick through it is 100x better overall for me

Bit of a crazy thread really when Sky are getting bagged for not showing the game, and now bagged for showing it lol

I wonder when the Winfield Cup switched from TVNZ to Sky, if it was immediately I guess we would have been early adopters. Although, I doubt we got Sky straight away in Hawkes Bay, it was probably delayed.

Given all that I'm going to assume the tour was on TVNZ.

It was definitely on TVNZ. I didn't have Sky growing up and I remember watching it on Sunday afternoons.

TVNZ lost the rights to the ARL in 97 and would only play the Wahs games (SL). In 96 TVNZ started reducing its coverage of the Winfield cup. I remember the non-wahs games getting pushed back to very late at night. It was a sad time in NZ considering the Wahs had just come into the comp. The SL war really reduced the popularity of the game here at the time.

definitely on tvnz in the early 80s. As a young kid i got fooled into thinking Canterbury-Bankstown was a NZ team for quite some time and would want them to win - usually a sunday arvo from memory.
