Our backs have been an issue for years we've been unable to produce and sort of quality in the juniors whilst the Saviour was in charge. Who have we developed in the last 12yrs -
Russel, W.Penisni - The Cream of the crop.

And the rest -
Bevan,Dunster,J.Falou,Davis,E.Parry, S.Laizou.

Parramatta chief executive Jim Sarantinos has urged fans to keep backing the judgment of Jason Ryles after the Eels coach emerged as the key figure in the decision to sever ties with Zac Lomax.
The Eels confirmed on Sunday that they had agreed to release Lomax from the final three years of his contract, with the NSW and Australian winger expected to switch codes and eventually sign with rebel rugby union competition R360.

There have been whispers he will spend time in Japanese rugby before then. He has, however, likely played his last game in the NRL after the Eels decided they were better served spending their money on a player who was fully committed to the club.

Ultimately, club bosses made the call in consultation with Ryles.

“He (Lomax) made it clear he wanted to pursue opportunities elsewhere,” Sarantinos said.

“There’s obviously been that connection with R360. I really don’t know where that is at. I have no idea.

“But he came forward to us and he asked if we would consider releasing him early. The main stakeholder in this is the coach. He’s been pretty decisive and strong around decisions he has made in regards to personnel.

“I think the view was that if we have a player whose focus may be elsewhere and the opportunities came to exit that situation sooner rather than later, and it gives you an opportunity to strengthen your roster somewhere else, why not do that.

“It’s not something we have been planning for the long term. But obviously we’ll look internally, we’ll look at who is available and we will look at the balance of the roster.”

Lomax’s departure is expected to strengthen the Eels’ bid to sign South Sydney and Kangaroos forward Keaon Koloamatangi, who came on the market on November 1.

The Rabbitohs are fighting hard to keep Koloamatangi, but whispers are growing louder that he has had his head turned by Parramatta.

When asked whether he was surprised that Lomax had decided to leave, having fought so hard to get out of his deal at St George Illawarra to move to the Eels, Sarantinos said: “I don’t think you sign any player for four years and expect that 12 months into the contract they are going to be looking at other opportunities.

“Things change. When we signed Zac, Brad (Arthur) was coach. We probably didn’t expect that would be the situation.

“Now we have Rylesy in place and he’s been pretty clear with all the decisions he has made around personnel.”

It is understood that a transfer fee has been included as one of the conditions of Lomax’s release from his contract. The size of the release fee remains a closely guarded secret - this masthead was told it was a significant figure.

If Lomax is R360 bound, they will need to stump up plenty of cash to secure his signature for their inaugural competition in October next year.

Not that money appears to be an issue. Nor do the 10-year bans that have been threatened by the NRL for players who join the breakaway league.

They certainly don’t appear to have affected Lomax’s decision.

“I have no idea what R360’s strategy is,” Sarantinos said.

“Are they looking to tear the NRL apart or are they looking to pick and choose NRL players.

“I don’t know how much of a deterrent the bans from the NRL will play. For some players it will be a major deterrent. For other players it may not matter.”

As for the bolded part - why the f**k not? isn't that the recruitment teams job? to look at long term options FFS?
“I have no idea”

First time Jimmy boy has opened his mouth and said something I agree with.

Utter incompetent dribbler. Why would you release a bloke who you had banked on for the next 3 years without anyone lined up to replace him??

No matter how good a coach JR may or maybe he can’t do shit while the club is run by incompetent clueless f**king morons.

I'd put some of that on the coach then. He would of seen it. It wouldn't of been hard to say let's not do the bomb to Lomax every 2nd kick or tell Lomax to focus on tackling the man instead.
Telling players to do something sometimes still relies on the player to exercise judgement during games. He’s not going to know how often he’s doing it during the game if his coach says only attempt the catch 85% of the time. Coaches just don’t have that level of control on the field.

I was thinking surely there is a solid first Grader at the Fins we could pinch, they have:

Bostock
Isaako
Averillo
Herbie
Feagai
Cobbo
Naufahu
Possibly even Hammer if they play Fuller at FB.

All competing for 4x spots... Naufahu is the one I would dangle the carrot at, very young and looked an exceptional talent in his few games last season. Under contract but would go from a 3rd or 4th string back up to at worst next man up in our team.

MON was on the BSB this morning and said there has been numerous managers on the blower to us pushing players.... let's hope we end up with some decent options.
Rugby League players?

Who pays the transfer fee if he's not official with another team?
Interesting things to happen around it. I imagine we put it in so that he doesn’t just wind up at Roosters for free, and if he goes to R360 he can probably just negotiate for it to come out of his own salary if needed, but if the theory goes he signs in Japan before leaving them for R360, it’s going to be big cost for zero return

As I said it is up to the coach to change things if he felt it was a problem. Hey Zac in future lets just hammer the defender 5mtrs out. This is how sides are winning comps.
It was part of the game plan.

Stop twisting their words. Of course they have staff conducting long term roster management. It’s called the list management group. But Lomax was on the books for four years, and in any case, replacing him for 2026 in the middle of 2025 wouldn’t have been easy. Especially when the R360 comp wasn’t even certain to get up at that point.

We didn’t have to release Lomax, so why agree to it until we had a signing lined up to spend his money on? It doesn’t need to be another winger. We already have one that is rep quality.

In the manosphere we call Lomax's conduct hypergamy (coupled with monkey branching).
Rule 1 dealing with this is you never take them back.
Rule 2 is handle it like Ryles did, kick em the hell out, as in break up with them, first.
Rule 3 is ruin their reputation.

Hahaha.
