Never heard much about him to be fair

Sexton will be a good get for them

And as gobs says the more pommies here in the nrl the better the English test team is even if a few fail

English forwards are always a better bet than their backs and their spine players have really struggled in the nrl

Even tomkins didn’t do much and he was saying he wanted to be one of the best fullbacks in the league

Newman is a petulant man-child with neither the brain capacity nor attitude to make it in the NRL. I’ll be very confident in saying that he’ll be back in England within 18 months of signing for the Bears.

bit of a dck but the kid can play. Be nice to actually here from the club!
A fortnight or so ago the plan looked like multiple players being officially announced by the club at the same time (in one announcement). This would be to save the pressure of any one particular player being announced as the “first”.

Logo was/is slated to be released a day or so before that announcement (of 3-5 players).

I don’t believe this has changed but I also haven’t communicated with anyone at the club since then.

Ben Morton is scheduled to be at a Norths held breakfast business conference this Wednesday (26th Nov). I am certain someone will ask the questions (logo release date, official player announcements, major sponsor etc).

I don’t know if the press announcing potential signings is really a good thing, it then alerts their existing clubs to up their ante.
Rumoured players that the Bears have missed out on are Jahrome Hughes, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, Luke Metcalf, Beau Fermor and Jayden Campbell.
All have officially re-signed with their existing clubs.
The good thing with those above players re-signing with their current clubs is that it then opens up the possibility of other players being forced out of that club due to lack of $$$ available.

Perth Bears Announce Landmark Agreement with North Sydney Bears as Primary Pathway Partner
The Perth Bears are proud to announce a landmark Agreement has been signed with the North Sydney Bears – officially confirming the iconic club as its Primary Pathway Partner and NSWRL Representative Teams Partner.
With a storied history spanning 117 years, the North Sydney Bears are a 1908 foundation rugby league club in New South Wales.

This partnership will see its well-established junior representative programs and junior league competitions serve as a key development pipeline to the NRL exclusively through the Perth Bears. Head Coach Mal Meninga said he was "truly honoured to be part of the future that keeps the North Sydney Bears heritage and legacy alive”.
"They are a valuable partner in the sustainable success of the Perth Bears and the game of rugby league in the West,” he said

"Their history and traditions will be cemented in the foundations of the Perth Bears and will always be celebrated."
Perth Bears CEO Anthony De Ceglie said the partnership was more than just about on-field success but also represented a commitment to honour and respect the heritage and supporter base of the North Sydney Bears.

“The Perth Bears are a new NRL franchise, but nothing will ever change the fact that the birthplace and spiritual home of the ‘Bears’ in rugby league will always be North Sydney,” he said. “The Bears brand is one of the most respected in rugby league, and this exclusive alignment with North Sydney ensures our players have access to a proven development system. “It’s a powerful statement about our commitment to building a sustainable future for the Perth Bears, both here in WA and across the country.”

Perth Bears chairman Ben Morton said the club was “determined to see the Bears name thrive in both Perth and Sydney”. “The Perth Bears are committed to honouring and respecting the heritage and history of the North Sydney Bears,” he said. “While our two organisations remain separate and independent organisations – this partnership agreement will establish stronger ties between the West Australian rugby league community and the North Sydney rugby league community. “We know that the success of each individual club will contribute to the success of the other, both on and off the field. That’s why this partnership is so important.”

The partnership will see North Sydney Bears continue managing their NSWRL representative teams, providing coaching, development, and competition opportunities for emerging talent. Perth Bears coaching staff, including Head Coach Mal Meninga, will provide support and assistance to ensure that players from Sydney have a clear and supported route into elite rugby league.

North Sydney Bears CEO Gareth Holmes welcomed the “monumental milestone”. “This partnership not only marks a monumental milestone for our loyal Bears supporters who have waited so long to see their team return to the top-flight, but it also opens fantastic opportunities for young, aspiring rugby league players right here in Sydney and through our local junior league,” he said. “Our storied history, strong and established development pathways, and genuine passion for rugby league will drive the game’s growth locally and in Western Australia, making this a wonderful outcome for the sport across the country and for the Bears community

I need some clarity on this. I’m not attempting to be negative. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

1) If this connection is in the constitution of the club, why this announcement necessary in this way?
- Perth Bears are suppose to be bringing back the bears? (Among other things)

2) How long is this agreement for?
- Can it end?
- What prevents it from ending?

I agree with you on these questions and I can only offer my personal opinion on this, nothing official if I answered.
I can ask this on Wednesday evening.

1) It’s nothing more than a tick in a box. It’s purely for the pathways. It’s to make Norths accountable to ensure there’s Harold Matt’s, SG Ball and Jersey Flegg sides up and running. That those sides are financed. This is a parting of capital that goes from Perth Bears to Norths Bears via NRL club grant for these pathways clubs. It means Norths won’t be required to fully finance these junior rep teams by themselves.

You might be confusing this element with the previously discussed brand element - re: constitution.

2) For as long as Norths field pathways teams. It’s very much a case of keeping it simple here.

Thanks for your response. Again, not trying to be negative (I’m aware I can come off that way over text sometimes)

1) Makes sense. Although making it public in this way has caused some confusion.

I wasn’t aware your responses in the previous conversation were purely from a brand Elmer only. I was approaching that conversation from a whole-of-club perspective.

2) It seems to be a complicated way of keeping it simple. Wouldn’t an announcement that North Sydney Bears are re-entering teams into the SG Ball, Harold Matthews and Jersey Flegg cup “due to the return of an NRL club in Perth” be a lot more simple?

Again, not trying to be negative (I’m aware I can come off that way over text sometimes)

Perth Bears push closer to securing Tyran Wishart

Mark Barnes

The Perth Bears have intensified their recruitment push this week by announcing the signing of English international representative centre Harry Newman.

The signing comes after widespread coverage of the Bears’ inability to secure big-name players, including last week’s failure to land Titans halfback Jayden Campbell.

Campbell chose to re-sign and remain on the Gold Coast despite the Bears presenting a contract offer worth upwards of $1.5 million more.

It is now being reported that the Bears have set their sights on Melbourne Storm utility Tyran Wishart, with conversations with the Storm utility already underway according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.

MORE: Perth Bears secure signature of English international

Wishart has emerged as one of Perth’s priority targets, with the expansion club likely eager to add a versatile and established NRL playmaker to anchor their spine for the long term.

The Bears are understood to be preparing a significant offer, believing Wishart could become the club’s most important signing since entering the market.

Wishart’s ability to cover multiple key positions, including hooker, halfback and fullback, is an attractive option for the Bears as they look to build a competitive roster.

His rise at the Storm has not gone unnoticed, with the 25-year-old becoming a reliable and high-impact contributor in Craig Bellamy’s system whenever called upon.

For the Bears Wishart could become a potential cornerstone of their maiden campaign, with his experience in a premiership-winning environment invaluable to a club starting from scratch.

Coach Mal Meninga has previously stated they are building a roster with "Bears DNA" and culture paramount, Wishart seems to fit the bill well.

A deal for Wishart would also bring immediate credibility to the Bears’ spine and could serve as the defining signing of the club’s short history.

Storm management are expected to fight hard to keep him, but the Bears are prepared to stretch their offer and provide a long-term starting role — something Wishart has not always been guaranteed in Melbourne.

With Perth finally building momentum and eager to establish a competitive squad from day one, Wishart shapes as the next major domino that could change the direction of their inaugural roster.

If the Bears can secure him, it would not only fill one of their most important positions but could signal a turning point in a recruitment campaign that has struggled to land its top targets.
