No Thats bullshit because Penriths style was in full force end of 2021.

And only beat us in the finals by two points, after their trainer cheated and halted play with us on the attack.

They were built on small fast forwards with big strong backs.

Yep, a style that did f**k all until the NRL sped up the game during Covid. Suddenly they had the right squad for the rules and we didn't.

Every club at this point has seen it for 2yrs and moved towards mobile forwards and a ball playing lock with power backs. Everyone knew thats was the way to go back then.

Everyone knew it and still most of them can't compete in the player market. If you're trying to buy the same players as the big TPA clubs, you'll just end up overpaying.

Drown's shoulders were turned in because Lane was one on one with Latrell Mitchell. This meant Blake had to take the lead runner and Sivo was stuck in a two-on-one.

Here's Addo-Carr coming in off his wing in round 24 this year for the same reason:

sivo wasnt stuck, he could have slid, waqa would have got his man. sivo only had eyes for the centre cause thats he we rolled under BA.

When the defence is backpedaling (due to events on the previous play, usually after a quick play-the-ball) it's up to the playmaker to make the right decision. The defence can 'read the play' all they want, they're not the ones with the ball. Playmakers get paid the big bucks because their job is to read the defence in these situations. If the defence comes in, they go out the back. If the defence slides, the playmaker throws the short pass. If he gets it right, the defence is f**ked either way. The solution is to limit his opportunities. That means slowing the ruck in the middle. Don't be fooled that it was the winger's fault (or the coach pressed the wrong button from his Nintendo controller up in the stands) when the opposition winger scored. Every try starts in the middle of the field.

See my post above about playmakers. If Waqa and Sivo had slid, Mitchell would have just passed it to the lead runner instead. If Drown had stayed on the lead runner, Mitchell was one on one with Shaun Lane, 15m out from the tryline.

That's how we defended with our plodding forwards after V'landys sped up the game.
