Perth should be on the phone to Parramatta to cut a deal right now. Offer Paps and NAS overs straight off the bat. Get it done!
There's a very small window to a massive opportunity for Perth if they can be smart enough to know that the only cards they have is " we can offer a big deal right now!"
Yes offering massive overs to players past their best seems like a sure way to get the club started. Seems like a good way to end up with massive unwanted contracts as a noose around their necks for a few years.

If I’m Perth, I’m saying to all 3 of them sign with us, we’ll pay you in 2026 to stay fit, even to play elsewhere (loan them out).
Use 2026 to pre-pay their contracts, so you get all 3 at a lower cap value in 27/28.
So let’s say they’d be willing to pay Pappy $1m per season for 2 years. Offer him $2.5m for 3 years, including 2026, but pay him $1.5m in 2026, and $500k in 27/28…. Then let him sign on loan somewhere for 2026 and Pappy can keep all that money too.
Effectively gets them their salary cap increase but through the back door.

Perth wont get there NRL grant until 2027.

None of these players have enough name recognition in Perth to warrant them being overpaid.

They don't have ANY big name prospects..ANY.
At this rate they could be in breach of salery cap for being too far under.. They don't have to be long deals.. Perth needs to get the ball rolling.

They'll pay overs somewhere. All clubs do.

Well, the massive offers, working in the shadows.. will be out the window for 20 years. People will laugh at you.
The only way you could do this now is with full transparency, business plan, exact comp structure ect..

Backers with actual money might help next time .,.. and some up front money .,

It's recognition of other players.
Players want to go where there's other good players.
Paps is mates with players all across the NRL as is Lomax as is NAS.. NSW reps, NZ reps , Australian reps..

Exactly

Getting pappenhausen would get the Mickey off their back

Like a Batsman whose come out to bat getting his first single

Right now they are a bit of damaged goods with the players they are signing and average players rejecting them even when they offered overs

Beggars can’t be choosers. Pappy, NAS and Lomax would be 3 very good foundation players.
Lomax a current NSW and Aus Rep player.
Pappy still amongst the most elite, very marketable, a positive social media influencer type.
NAS just a big big body. Their ‘enforcer’… a nice start to building a pack.

Mal is an intimidating figure. Right now it's just this intimidating bloke on the other side of the country.
Having a couple of your mates over there that are good players too, to welcome you takes the edge off.
There's no doubt that Paps, Lomax and NAS makes future signings dramatically easier.

Looks like we'll be going through all this again in 2 years. Who's off contract for 2028 ? Cleary and Walsh.

2028 is when the NRL cap will go up to 15 to 17m so players will be better paid.

But the NRL still wont be able to compete with the imaginary tax free 3m pa R360 can offer.

You are starting to get into Perth Red areas of constant pathetic sadness, is everything ok in your life?
And… given pretty much every player who goes to Perth is having to move away from family/friends, I think everyone is going to have to accept that pretty much every player who signs there will be getting ‘overpaid’. Perth are going to have to pay overs for pretty much everyone - which is why they should be given a significantly higher cap for at least their first few seasons (gradually reducing over maybe a decade) until they’ve got a base community and development system in place so that they don’t have to ‘buy in’ all of their talent.

You know it's incredible easy to look up his name and spell it correctly?

While the clubs go from 17 to 19.. one of those actually is tax free.
It'll be the tightest player market in history and that's when they think it'll be better to launch lol.
Add the loss of credibility and I doubt it'll be much concern.
Rugby Union however has clubs folding and post WC will be ripe for the picking..
