I'm glad to hear that sweeping gun law changes reflect on what we were talking about earlier, especially regarding mental health and domestic violence.
Also licence renewals should involve police checks that prohibit these people from having a human killer in their hands.
Until all these reforms are implemented there really is only 2 things that need to be introduced imo and that is, firearms or any deadly item cannot be secured at the shooters/users house and transport of these items should be to done by a qualified courier in line with the carriage of dangerous goods.
Shooting clubs should store these weapons and not in the car or glovebox
I think the government should deter recreational hunting and farmers from using firearms and promote the use of professional animal/vermin removal and subsidize this.
We don't need guns, do we really?
Surely after a period of time, people with adjust. Just like people now, have stopped whinging about unleaded fuel, smoking restrictions, fool fences, etc etc.

I disagree, that's clearly how the US do it and it is so unsafe.
Having weapons transported in personal vehicles, especially nutters, is actually promoting violence not preventing it.
We soldiers had ammunition and weapon escorts when driving through urban areas, no difference.
We have been ticking along ok until we've had embattled countries involving ethnic groups bringing their problems to our shores.
You empower people with weapons to defend themselves, omg your going to make it worse.
Look at the comparison figures of Australia compared to the US I posted earlier.
Death penalty. Na, you just don't kill people. You give them life sentences without ever getting parole and make them work every day to help the less fortunate by building things in prison workshops to make free clothing or beds etc for them.

We all want peace and security.

Since we are all rational ethical people we should all be in agreement that guns need to only be available to people in very specific situations and those people require rigorous checks.

No one needs a gun for self-defense. Personally I think self-defense is the biggest load of BS in the world and I've been doing an effective martial for years.

The people / politicians making the most noise are demanding special treatment/ protection from the govt for Jews ..and demanding the education about the history of holocaust in schools and how dare the govt take SO long to implement it .. BUT they are dead against indigenous ozzys getting any form of protection. In fact they don’t raise an eyebrow to aboriginal deaths in custody etc etc or have any interest in their history of being virtually wiped out ..one could in fact conclude they celebrate it.
