The game has never been better on and off the field. And this is coming from someone who has watched Rugby League since the 1980's.
My post may not have come across as I intended. I was actually being sarcastic in terms of the game not being the same with players not causing havoc in the offseason. I was not having a go at PVL.

Nah period 89 to 95 beats this imo off field

We had 20 teams 30 years ago we still don’t have it today and won’t for another five years

I don’t think the on field product is that good now it’s just got better from the wrestling era which was dire

In terms of on field early to mid 2000 in terms of how good the attack was

I think that is rose coloured glasses. There were plenty of rubbish footy games. Souths were so off the pace during that period it wasn't funny. Grounds were no where near the conditions we find these days.

The game itself if you go back and rewatch those old games, which I have watched plenty were much slower on the field. And everything off the field, be it telecasts, facilities etc has reached levels that even the best facilities at the time don't even come close to.

It's just we didn't have Pay TV showing all the games, so we got highlights at the end of the news in the sports section. But being a bloke who even attended games as a neutral, plenty just plain sucked. Only thing I miss is $10 entry (and for the Bulldogs paying $2 more if I wanted to sit in the stand).

90s yeh on field I agree

But not mid 2000 before wrestling came in and slowed the game down

From 2000 to now the game is faster but in terms of teams who play open style footy it’s way down so many teams are robots

They get to the opposition try line and have no idea how to score

Best thing about training at Canterbury leagues club gym is they have all the old games on Foxtel on 3 screens and they’ve put on all the best games from the last 30 years, sometimes it’s hard to train lol

Oh I've watched nearly all of them on Kayo. Great selection of games available. What they are not showing are the Souths v Wests of the 1990's or other teams who were rubbish at that time. Part of that was due to players still being semi pro for the most part, with all those fringe players working another job cause there wasn't enough money to be doing it fulltime and it showed. Plus some clubs were just living in the past and the training facilities were still being run like a different era.

Wrestling was a blight on the game, and coaches are always going to try stuff. Glad for the most part that is out of the game now. But I'm sure another coach will come up with some way to screw around with the product on field but the game itself reacts a lot quicker than it used to, to eliminate all that stuff.

Don't start me mate.

The players barely even get on the piss the night before a game. And then they have 'training' on Monday so they go home early. I mean come on.

Can blame the Daily Terrograph when they start putting cameramen on the Harbour Bridge so they can get video/photos of players doing stuff that is in a private function. It's those sorts of things that prevent players from letting their hair down. They are a lot more media savvy these days, and understand they are on a good wicket, well the majority of them anyway.

I think we’re all just bored and want football to start.

If you want off season drama, I’ll happily share my dumb decisions.

You've been gallivanting in the Kaos gaming lounge at Panthers Leagues club haven't you?

Nailed it! No, I haven’t been there for a while. My company Christmas party was at panthers and my staff got rowdy there and Kaos was the highlight apparently. I dont attend my own Christmas parties as it’s for my staff to enjoy and a reward, amongst other things, for all their hard work.

My drama is far more interesting 😂

I bet they wasted all their tokens on the basketball hoop game.

I prefer mine to be consumed by Time Crisis.

Time Crisis is epic. I have it here in the gaming room on Sega Dreamcast with the guns.

I didn’t have any HR complaints and I ignored my calls from the accountant, so I’m sure the Basetball Hoop game claimed many victims, and dollars.

Good god thats amazing.

The light gun is making a come back. I'm gonna grab one this year for the TV.

The wii controllers are still better than these. Bit more effort to setup initially, but was more accurate and faster.

If you want something plug and play and just work with the 4 games it has installed. The Gaime lightgun is a goer. Probably more games will be added later when people work out how to.
