They most definitely will.

If there is the perception this is run out of Cammeray, this will fail

Perth wasn't the most willing partner to this marriage, they were forced into by vlandys
Ahhh
yea nah

PVL only ever had a " preference" for the Bears colours & Logo being used , it was the 1st thing signed off on by WA officials once they realized the benefits of having a fan base both sides of the country. The only sticking point was funding.

The people who are opposed to any home Perth games being played in Sydney are the same fools who wanted no involvement from North Sydney at all in the new Perth side. colours , logo .. juniors .. nothing.
They've been made look stupid & continue to double down on their ignorance.

Fortunately smart people are involved in these decisions & if they decide to go down an event in Sydney to kick things off , that'll be another correct decision.

He didn't have a mere preference, he made it a condition

Perth had a preference to go without a Sydney team - https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/pe...ut-would-rather-go-alone-20240512-p5jcwy.html

North Sydney has very few viable fans on offer, half their fans who last watched them play NRL have died of old age, and a brand of "not winning anything since 1922" isn't the win you think it is.

It is not unreasonable for Perth to insist on all home games in Perth, they only got 12 to begin with, and forfeiting one is a big sacrifice

North Sydney fans can trek to half a dozen away games

As I said, if this is seen to be run from Cammeray, enough Perth locals will abandon it where it will fail

Ahhh
nope
he said nothing of the sort & it was never a condition of the ARLC , the WA govt saw the sense in the partnership.

With North Sydney providing their colours & logo , & developing their juniors , its not unreasonable to request One opening event to kick off the franchise in the bears spiritual home Sydney , after which all future home games will be played in their new home Perth.

Suggesting Perth fans will " abandon " this new team because they play their first game in Sydney is

utter nonsense !

The same crap was trotted out if the NRL dared go down the path of involving North Sydney
so , so dumb.

You’re wrong Barney it’s enough of a norths connection as it is, to even play the first game in Sydney makes a mockery of the “Perth” in Perth Bears. We need the team to succeed in Perth.

No I'm right ,
& an opening game in Sydney won't have any impact on the success of Perth Bears... zip.
Like I said
Its only fools claiming any connection to Norths is a mistake that are moaning about this , &
they'll be wrong about this too.

The Storm played their first three games in Wollongong and Sydney, don't think it's hurt too much in the long run.

I’m not saying the connection with norths is bad, but I definitely think playing the first game in Sydney unnecessarily reinforces the idea that this is a Sydney team that just happens to play in Perth and not perths own team.

There is literally no benefit of playing the first game in Sydney, why would you do that and shoot yourself in the foot with the market you’re trying to attract eyeballs from.

The first game will get plenty of views from Sydney regardless. Can you imagine all the talk show, radio and social chat when Perths first home game is in … Sydney?

Unless you’re not talking about home games you’re talking about round 1 is an away game for Perth played in Sydney. That’s not as bad but still I wouldn’t do it, play round 1 in Perth if you actually want to grow the game in Perth.

I can imagine obviously
And IMO , the only people who will jump up & down are the fools who didn't want any connection to North Sydney in the first place.

If anything I’d hope that 2027 can be the first global round with the only game played in Australia to be Perths first game in Optus Oval to 50,000 fans. Being the only game in Australia it will get attention, also being part of global round will generate plenty of hype in WA.

No indication of that at all
none

just the said fools Ive been referring to !
Not true, if you look at reddit and other social media posts about the bears there’s already plenty of Perth people complaining that this is not a real Perth team and they won’t support it.

Not really the idea is it though

Heaven forbid the PERTH Bears play their first home game in .... Singapore !!!

what would that do to the success of the franchise for the following 10 years 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Would be a lot better than playing it in Sydney that’s for sure.
