Old Timer , in your avatar , would those players from Saints golden era be big Norm Provan ,Dick Huddart and Ken Kearney ?
That photo’s from ‘57 so before my time. I’m guessing it’s Brian Graham in the middle. Huddart joined the club in ‘67 after carving it up on the 1966 Lions tour.

Brian Graham, I did forget about him Dracarys . The Saints had so many wonderful players in those years .

Hi Gareth
Sticks & Killer yes but definitely not Huddart but I don’t believe it is Brian Graham as suggested.

I tried to look at the 61 premiership team photo but couldn’t read the names clearly.

Fingers crossed I’ll get down to the Taj in a few weeks time and should be able to recognise who it is in a team photo

It may be Dave Brown (he centered with Gasnier)? Because i dont think its anyone else in the 1961 GF side.

The swarthy gent in the middle?
I’ll have to have a think as well….

I’d say Vince Karalius except….. he never played for us 🤣

edit: could it be Robin Gourley ?

Dont think so RedVee; too early for Gourley. He was in the 1965 and ‘66 Grand Finals not the 61 GF though ..

Hi Again Gareth,

I was going to go down to the TAJ but then Mrs. OT reminded me that we had a kilo of king prawns and some yellowfin tuna steaks in the fridge plus a cold bottle of Pinot Gris, so I decided to stay home and after that sumptuous repast I pulled out a good book to read and what better book than "Never Before, Never Again" and I started reading to see what I could find out about the mystery man you enquired about in my new avatar.

In the photo section post page 148 and proceeding page 149 there is the photo of the undefeated ''59ers" and in the top row right is Geoff Weekes who played centre pre "Puff" and I believe he is the answer our quest.

I have attached his career details for those that are interested and I was somewhat delighted to see that he is the grandfather of that immense emerging Canberra Raiders talent Kaeo Weekes

Hopefully anyone with the St George Bible might be able to have a look and confirm if my deduction is correct.

Good Lawd ! I have the book in my book case , never had the opportunity of reading it , but shall do .

As to the King prawns and the bottle of Pinot Gris , my mouth is watering . Once again thank you for your homework and ensure that you do your share of the washing the dishes after such a sumptuous meal .

Graham started playing first grade for the St. George club in the 1955 NSWRFL season.[1] The following season the club won the first of what would become a record eleven consecutive premierships, but Graham did not play first grade. However, at the end of the 1957 NSWRFL season St. George had again reached the grand final and Graham played at fullback in their 31–9 victory over Manly-Warringah.
