I only ask as I'll be there for the start but I'm going to have to shoot off at half time because I'm playing my first gig in a couple of years at The Brass Monkey with the great Charlie Owen.
Charlie is just about my all time fave guitarists ever and he's played with the whose-who of Aus Music.
His list:
Louis Tillett, New Christ's, The Divinyls, Tex Don and Charlie (Tex being Tex Perkins, Cruel Sea and Beasts of Bourbon. Don being Don Walker of Cold Chisel). Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Beasts of Bourbon, and the list goes on and on.
My last show was with him in Erskineville a couple of years ago.
I got offered this gig and knew it was our first game but I just had to do it.
I've now worked my way I where I can do gigs again because I changed careers.
The need to play was too strong to ignore. Plus the fact I've got a shyte load of new songs to get out of my brain.
I'll get the first half in then high tail it down to the Monkey.
I'm pretty sure not many would be inclined to come down after the game, and that is cool, but if you are looking for a good time with one of the best musos Australia has produced, Charlie, not moi! Then come on down.
Paul Kelly even wrote a song about Charlie, that is the depth of the man!!!!
