Tough finish today, a bit depressing. Too early to squeeze any goodness from it. I’m sure it’s there, but….
If we see that resolve for the majority of the season then it's a great step in the right direction but one swallow does not make a summer. Doesn't ease the pain that much but we were far from disgraced. I really felt for the good of the game the red and whites get the v on this one (putting aside my partiality).

On another note, so annoying the opposition always seem to have that player that can slot that field goal and we never do.

Pearce, Keary, Reynolds, Lockyer, Metcalf, Humphries, Lomax as an Eel, Crichton....

The only player I can recall capable for us was Snorey Boreman of all players.

When will the tide turn??

Soward in 2010 against the tigers that sent us through to the GF. Great memory

Another year and after last season losing 2 or 3 games by a field goal .
Dragons can't kick 1 to win in extra time . Same shit why not try something different run the ball out wide on last or put a bomb up and hope they drop it under pressure . And also we need speed badly buy a fullback and centre sulli has been a huge disappointment in defence and attack to slow .

Without the win, the question is what can be extracted to serve the side for the balance of the season?

A surge of extra game time in a tight one, mental and physical stresses, I suppose that’s in the bank.

That it should occur when none of the players are quite ready, after pre season is interesting.

Then the accompanying circus of it all and hopefully no additional bad social experiences.

It’s well known the trip is nonsense preparation wise. It’s a nice experience for the players, but right out of the comfort zone for support staff.

Hopefully this never happens again.

Even a draw would have been honourable, I thought it was on and some peace could be salvaged.

Watching the bulldogs players celebrate a questionable win occurs way too often and is a truly horrible sight to behold. Puts me off the game.

Exactly this. I'm gutted.

Saints kicking Meters were 1018 to 697. And Saints had far less of the ball. Saints needed good long kicking game and Atkinson delivered. His long kicks were great. Unfortunately they only broke the line once and mostly played in their own half so Atko did not get much of a chance to show us much of his short kicking game.

I believe Atkinson has the ability, we just never got close enough, never had the field position to have a good shot, we attempted FG from 40 and 50 out.
Crighton got a kick from 25m out.
It seemed to me (I've watched the game closely twice) that Atkins made sure we had next to no opportunities in the dogs quarter. We were raped of possession 3 times whilst in possession (penalised when we had the ball, in decisions that were highly controversial). The fxcker kept stunting our momentum and our halves were unable to show any attacking skills in their quarter. 95% of our possession was in the part of the field from our 10m line to their 30m line - next to nothing attacking their line. This seemed to come from a huge manipulation form Atkins.
The dogs get away with so much shit in the tackle and slowing of our players getting up to play the ball. Tactics such as 3rd man flops, hands on the ball, lifting our players and dragging them back, grabbing/locking the arm carrying the ball. The frustration could be seen from our players as they jostled to free the arm just to play it. Whilst in possession, the dogs were walking 2 to 3 metres from where they were supposed to play the ball, Crichton, Kirac, Montoya, Tracey, Xerri, Burton and Galvin being the main cheats. Atkins never pulled them up once. Every time the dogs are tackled they whinge and complain for a penalty and when tackled on the last tackle, they feign injury so their players can set themselves before giving the ball to us to start our set. Every time they kicked into our corners and we diffused a kick and we got tackled, they slowed the restart down....every time.

Their defense structure relies heavily on making sure that they are never retreating and they slow it down to a snails pace so they are always moving forward to tackle and never retreating. Their tactics are illegal under the current interpretations, but somehow, they RARELY get pulled up. Crichton id a thug and gets away with so much shit and everytime they drop a ball the refs try their darndest to try and call it a knock back.

I still cannot work out How Atkinson got called for a knock on from a Sua pass, when it hit him in the chest and he then picked it up and the ref called knock on.

Atkins fxcked us absolutley.

I recall a second push down on Gutho tackle one in front of our line, ref says nothing.

How about Suli's knock back, the ball never want forward and touched a dogs player.
He just lost it backwards. Ref sees a ball on the ground and takes the opportunity to take control and just calls knock on.

Atkins called those knock backs when the dogs did it.

The tide will turn when the club selects Reed at 7 and Atkinson at 6. Reed and Atkinson can kick long, defend weel and kick field goals. If Reed was on the plane and brought on the field in the final 10 minutes, we would have won the game.

Congratulations to AJ.

Those scenes when he scored the record-breaking try were amazing, fans storming the field, mobbed by players and fans alike. Memories that will never be erased.

So fortunate to have gotten to see it, as I doubt it will ever be beaten.
He’s done it honestly too.

By that I mean he’s just slogged on without much agility or heroics. A nice turn of speed, factory body, just kept his nose to the grindstone.

Clean and tidy. There’s a certain sense of purity about it. And no self flogging or rubbish character.

Sometimes it’s the way players reach these achievements that has them enter the annuls too.

So yeah, he’s the real deal. Wd Alex.

A player’s player. Hard to find these days.

It was a relief to see the game get a bit out of control and fans enjoy it a bit.

I appreciate some people didn’t approve, and I’m not getting political, but Albo getting carried away in the moment was pretty cool.

As a dragons enthusiast, with all of the history floating about, it makes me more determined to see the stolen premierships returned and the record corrected.

There will never be a genuine peace with the NRL until this matter is dealt with.

Agree with the Albo comment. He's the Bunnies number one supporter and last night was his Bob Hawke Americas Cup moment. The fans defied the call to stay off the field (like that was going to happen) and were able to celebrate. Good luck to Johnstone. It guarantees we no longer have to read about Lomax et al.

Zac is definitely going to miss the league circus.

Hes going to slip into public irrelevancy pretty quickly playing onion.

He may need to do a long hop for charity on one leg or something like that to get on TV again.

Not that helping other people comes to him too easily.

He certainly has contempt for us league fans and was probably slurping on a milkshake during the AJ try last night.

Zac could have run onto the field with Albo so AJ could have patted Zac on the back.
