HUGE for Mounties
Storm is a great name to be connected to but in practical terms in 2026 Mounties will be worse off than if they had stayed with North Sydney. Not only will they not get a couple of Norths players each week but the 4 Mounties players signed by Norths - Toa Tuilaepa, Matt Lewin, David Tui and Aykan Bosnali, will all play with Hills District.

2026 is the first year of Storm in NSW Cup and they basically just recycled last year's Flegg team into it with 13 from that team in Round 1 of NSW Cup (6 still Flegg age). They were a bit stronger in Round 2 but they have conceded 78 points in 2 games.

Not that it matters as it was a trial, but Brothers beat Moorebank 48-16 in SS.

Ryde Eastwood 36 Blacktown 28
St Marys 20 Hills 14
Wenty 32 Manly 6

Apart from the game at Ringrose where Wenty were in full control and led 26-0 at half time, the others were competitive. The Bulldogs, with Justin Matamua, Nick O'Meley,Daniel O'Donnell and Toby Sullivan leading the way, led 16-6 at half time and increased the lead with a penalty goal in the 45th minute. Mounties were full of dropped balls and missed tackles. Clearly, they lifted their game in the 2nd half to score 4 tries.

The new look Blacktown team were matching the Hawks with 3 tries each in the first period for a 16-16 scoreline, but Ryde pulled away with 3 converted tries and a penalty. Blacktown kept going and reduced the 20 point deficit to 8 in the final 12 minutes of the game.

It appears that Ryde refused to insert their team lists in the system and that the NSWRL facilitated same for SS 20 minutes before the start of the game. When the RMC game was delayed by 90 minutes it appears that the relevant official had left the ground so there is no team list for Ryde and no scores in the system.

For the record:

Ryde Eastwood 36 (Michael Chee Kam 2, Max Liles, Anthony Raheb, Luke Hodge, Eden Ackland tries, Ackland 6 goals) bt Blacktown 28 (Damien Nati, Sunita Lotoaniu, Shalom O'Ofoa, Peni Tagiutimua, Epeli Sukanaivalu tries Jack Piccirilli 4 goals.

Apart from the tryscorers for Ryde, I can identify Reivan Smallwood, Adam Fearnley, Callum Ellis, Joe Lovodua and Jirah Momoisea.

SS
Glebe 28 Brothers 22
Mounties 40 Moorebank 6
Ryde Eastwood 26 Blacktown 6 - game stopped after 45 minutes and then later abandoned.
St Marys 10 Hills 6 - game stopped after 13 minutes and then later abandoned.

The 2 abandoned SS games could be replayed on the weekend of 16 May, when there are no RMC/SS games as this weekend is usually allocated for City vs Country

That would be fair.

Glebe have suffered a major injury in round 1,as new recruit James Segearo reportedly dislocated his hip.

Abandoned? NSWRL says complete and the ladder matches.
The ground manager incorrectly closed off the system at St Marys when the game was abandoned, so the system shows a win but St Marys advised on facebook that the game wil be replayed at a later date. The game went for 13 minutes when the lightning protocols came into play. The game was not continued and the RMC game started 90 minutes late once the weather event stabilised.

The weather took longer to get to Lidcombe so they played 45 minutes and the system showed incomplete game, so earlier today the ladder showed that Ryde and Blacktown had not played a game. Now, these 2 clubs have been excluded from the ladder completely.

Wenty has only a RMC game and it had the latest scheduled start so it was only delayed by 35 minutes.

Hopefully the NSWRL will work over the next few weeks - remember they left Cabramatta in the ladders last year for about a month after they withdrew.

There was no impact further south at Hinchinbrook with both games uninterrupted. At Canterbury there wasnt even any rain.

The Round 1 Sydney Shield game between St Marys and Hills, that was terminated following lighting strikes after 13 minutes, will be replayed on 2 April at 6.30pm. The Ryde Eastwood vs Blacktown game, that was similarly terminated, just after half time, has yet to be rescheduled.

I think you will find the Ryde v Blacktown result will stand as the game was past the half way mark.

That would be reasonable as Ryde looked like they would win by 40 but in a 2 team contest a turnaround is always possible so I assumed a replay.
Just going off what happened in the Laurie Daley Cup Round 1 match. 45 minutes gone, Newcastle lead Illawarra 6-4 when game was called off for Heat. Game awarded to Newcastle

St Marys and Mounties are setting the pace in both grades. St Marys crushed Ryde Eastwood in both grades yesterday with wingers Christian Chrichton and Nick Murphy both bagging 4 tries in the RMC game. Every team, except Manly has managed a win in RMC.

We have already had the first player switch, with Fred Pupu moving from Hills to Wenty.

Melbourne has so far sent 3 players from their NSW Cup squad to play SS with Mounties, with Blake Kehl scoring a try in the 48-0 demolition of Wenty in round 2 and Alan Holten and Jared Nauma doing likewise in a tough win over Brothers.
