Why have this year’s Cronulla crowds been so low? Wasn’t capacity meant to have been slightly increased for this season?
Not a lot of fans. Also the game day experience is so much better at manly. I went last week as a neutral and had an awesome time going from brewery to brewery then game of footy then back to brewery. I think for manly fans despite the result it’s still a “good day” (pun intended” out.

Compared to the club closest to the Sharks situation .... Manly
The Sharks 2 opening home crowds have been disappointing , Manly 2 out of town opponents ..... 2 sellouts , heck 2 capacity crowds so a very high % of members are attending too

Sharks .. 2 out of town opponents , in a smaller venue by 3000 odd or so,
no sellouts , & crowds 3000 shy of capacity ..
Yeh came in the same time and their areas have similar populations

Manly crowds went up a lot went they built the new coe/stand behind the posts whilst sharkies didn’t

Having St George close by whilst norths have been kicked out of the nrl for 30 years maybe makes a difference

And many obviously way more successful on the field since 67

Manly fans are turning up despite an average team on the field whilst Cronulla until recently have been really good

I might have misread your first line referring to Manly and Sharks coming in at the same time but Manly was 47 and Shark 67. I think your point about Manly having significantly more success, Norths their neighbours well hadn't won anything since the 20s and the Shire being former Dragon's territory and their success during the 50s, 60s and 70s and being competitive in the 80s would have impacted the following that the Sharks were able to garner compared to Manly. You also have families moving into the Shire as house prices are cheaper than the city side of Georges River who would already have a team so all adds up to why Sharks don't have a huge fan base despite some success on the field the last decade.

Who's got the money these days to blow on the footy given the cost of living crisis. Category 1 Reserved seats are $80 for the Rabbitohs v Tigers game this week. That's absolutely crazy. How are working families supposed to afford that week in week out?

The crowds have been OK so far but that will die down as it always does a few rounds into the season. Averages from the first 2-3 weeks compared to previous years mean nothing more other then that fact that more favorable games have been played.

Get a membership. Dragons cat 1 become $60 a game which is still a bit but is what it is.

That said, I recently bought tickets for ANZAC day. $130 for a sideline seat, $100 to sit in the corner and $80 to sit behind the posts. And if you want to sit on the sideline at the very back of the top tier it's still $100. Still got me though, bought a family ticket.

Home games for Sydney teams next year like
