Yeah and if expect around 15k like most clubs.
An NRL team will be the biggest thing in Christchurch, it's always going to sell

Except the Crusaders who actually have a long history of winning …
And Sydney is 5 times the size of that and the Dragons got 8k.
So you just proved population means nothing.

who would show up to watch those donkeys … and they play half their games in a city of 200k anyway…

I don’t think there will be another 8 NRL teams in town competing against Christchurch thankfully

The Crusaders.. SR ?
They have a 3rd of the cap of an NRL franchise .
After SR folds, the Crusaders can switch to League and play in the NSW cup as NZ2 feeder club. They get to play in that new stadium in the curtain raiser.

why would they be pissed off at the City if it helped bring an NRL team there ? Bringing in jobs, and thousands of visitors each year ? They are still free to negotiate their own deal the best they can … if someone negotiates a better deal they might have to suck it up..
10 NRL games a year for decades versus an AB test … I know which I would prefer.. but doubt it comes to that …the ABs just hurting their own fans in the 2nd biggest city in the country at a time when there is a new show in town just starting up … they aren’t stupid…they will probably be putting more games there
You're wondering why a sporting organisation might be annoyed that another organisation gets favourable terms allowing them to discount ticket prices? Come on bro.

An AB Test.

Well ..like I also said ..if they are annoyed they can suck it up …. Might have had things to themselves for too long…

I assume the Council will act in their own best interests

Why should they just suck it up? If the Crusaders got a discount allowing them to discount prices and NZ2 didn't you'd have a melt down and insist on them fighting it.

I'm pretty sure not pissing off the biggest sporting organisation in the region is in the councils best interests. Also, they've had things to themselves because they've been the most viable tenants at the variously named Chch stadiums.

If they ( Rugby) are pissed off …than that’s their problem …

The NRL will negotiate the best deal they can …and the council will act in their best interests …. If they want an NRL team as I said to create jobs and bring in thousands of visitors a year than this might help….there will be competition looks like…

And I'm telling you rugby will do the same and you're having a moan about it.

So you’re moaning about me moaning 😂

They can try ..:I think the NRL has more leverage
I'm not moaning, I hope they both get discounts and lower their ticket prices for their cyclops fans.

The NRL does not have more leverage in NZ despite what you read in this thread (and especially not for an untried new team in the maybe distant future).

More jobs and thousands of visitors a year = more leverage

What the NRL does offer is a longer season. In SR, each team plays 14 games, seven at home. The final is in late June.

Crusaders could play up to ten home matches, which includes hosting three finals games. Also SR has their own magic round at.....Christchurch stadium.

Meanwhile in the NRL, each team currently plays 24 games, 12 at home. Warriors could have up to 14 at home, which would include two finals games. A prelim final could be played in late September. The same could apply with a new team in Christchurch.

I believe the plan is for the NRL team to play 2 games in Dunedin…. Which probably makes some sense to share the love …

An NRL will pull far more tourists than any SR match.

I see Brisbane 3 cranking up the publicity again …maybe they are getting spooked…

NZ2 needs a new mouthpiece pushing their wheelbarrow though
What have you seen out of B3?

Is it Easts Tigers talking themselves up again, or some other bid group?

There is another “AFL threat “ story doing the rounds of the Sunday Brisbane paper …we see it every few months when they want to talk up Brisbane 3… this time it’s Shane Richardson doing the QRL’s bidding

Unfortunately it’s not great news for NZ2, as they don’t have the same voice as the QRL ..

Every punter with a podcast, a RL show or commentator in RL, literally all of them! Are talking up NZ2.. all the noise is for NZ2. Where would I even be able to go to hear what Ikin or Richo think?
Serious question, is there a link or something that can direct me to this noise around B3 ??
