Purdue yesterday was a good example of where Saints (Flanno expecially) is at, that is young kid with hardly any size on him making breaks against guys twice his size doing nothing. Teams are giving youngsters a bigger crack whist Saints picking big slow players to bash and barge and fill up their Stats. The game has changed significantly and the smaller, quicker players are able to influence the game more than the bigger battering ram type players.

Bring in Fuller, Xerri and play Reed and the Saints will look so much better in the backline. Both these 2 I think will get early releases. Move our best half to his best position in Atko to 6 and play Flanno or Reed at 7 may also change things. Playing Atko at 7 is plain stupidity. As for the forwards, say bye to Guller, Kerr and Lawrie and play youngsters. It seriously cannot get any worse. Liddle to get more game time.

Saints not taliking to Sandon Smith or Tannah Boyd was just dumb and letting go of Ashton Ward is just dumb recrutement / retention. One of these blokes with Atko would have been ideal. Insead the Knights, Souths and Warriors have these guys as back ups 7's. 2 of which are killing it whilst the other is injured.

We need new coaching staff (no Flanagan or Young).

Then we need to bring the team up to the right fitness leve.

Then form a new spine:

a. b. Recruit a marquee fullback
b. Select our a halves combo of;
6. Atkinson.
7. Reed as.
c. Recruiting a dynamic young hooker for the 14 jumper.

Recruit some classy and quick outside backs

As long as Atko is moved to 6 and still kicks on last tackle, he must, Kyle cannot takeover the kicking duties, that would be going backwards.

It sucks but I get why Reed is not being rushed in.

There's no way he puts Kyle at 7 and LKT at 6 and drops Atko, no way.

Saints need Trent Barrett as our coach. He loves playing Kyle Flannagan at 7 like he did in the Bulldogs days. Baz got hammered because he dropped Kyle to reserve grade and years later was proven to be the right call. If Saints sign him our problems will go away as his relationship with the Flanno's won't be too great. Get Baz as interim until the Flanno's take off and bring in a proper coach.

I will get laughed at but I'd actually be poaching him to be an assistant coach - he's been attack coach at both Penrith and Brisbane when they've won premierships. He might just be one of those guys who is a great assistant but not cut out for the top job.
