That’s my point. You can get picked in these teams if the selectors or the star players like you. Because there’s not 17 genuine stars to fill these rep teams. There might be a dozen genuine stars and so they need to pad out the team with solid first graders. If the team wins, the bloke is suddenly an incumbent and likely to get picked again.
