Flanno is the one over-ruling Ando on recruits.. thats how we got into this mess.. thats why we have no competing 7 at the club... and why CT is still our starting left winger.

Once Flanno is out of the way, hopefully Ando can try and recruit us some backs.. but if anyone thought it was hard to recruit before.. try after 10 straight losses.
We need at least Flano, Young, and Haran to go immediately. Ennis or Willi Talau can be interim coach until we sign a good head coach.

Yep.
Things will slowly settle down in the coming weeks/months once Flanagan is gone and a new head coach is appointed for 2027.
Anderson would already know that we will have to pay overs to attract some decent first grade talent to get us on the path to getting out of this massive hole we are currently in.
It is the same method used by so many clubs who have found themselves in the cellar in the past.
Big money can be a very big attraction to many NRL players.

I have trouble understanding that narrative

Ando had the keys to the thrown at Roosters

I cant believe that someone as knowledgeable experienced and in demand as Ando would sign on without proper governance built into his role

only a rookie recruitment director would agree to less

Ultimately Ando can present available players and thoughts on roster (you've heard him, hes a smart dude), but the head coach makes the selections and sets the recruitment direction.. and there is no point recruiting players in complete contradiction to the coach (we couldn't anyway, Flanno has to talk to them and sell the vision).

But when you get to a position where the coaches decisions are damaging our future with short-term thinking to save his career (which is completely understandable btw), the club has to step in and stop that.. we did it with Mary also.. but by the time you get to this point, the coaching relationship has failed.. its over and silly for the club to think we can just bury our heads.. get a lucky win.. and things will be fine.

Flanno is worse than Mary though imo, he is completely fixated on a vision of football from 10-15yrs ago that doesn't work anymore, and he keeps doubling down on it.. i.e. we needed to him to evolve over the last 3 years... but hes done the very opposite of that.. the more pressure the more he reverts to what he knew.

Mary is without doubt the biggest stuff up in Dragons history ( 7 1/2 Years...) Just stop and think about that for a moment.......look at the juniors we lost... Robson host garrick etc etc...

Flanno inherited a mess but he has had enough time to turn it around....

Lets hope that he is also shown the door in a timely manner.

and yet the Mary years are golden years compared to what has followed

Murray Taulagi to Roosters doing the rounds… we were supposedly interested.
Supposedly we had him basically signed in the offseason but just never came off.. think we have Sami instead (if that actually becomes formally announced).. wouldnt mind a 2nd winger though.. dont rly feel confident with anyone in our system... or.. we could buy a ctr if Holmes move to wing.. im so cranky Heidke has been injured so long.. i rly felt he was rdy now.

Cowboys granted Drinkwater an early release. It’ll look wrong if Cowboys want to keep him again and put doubt in Drinkwater’s mind about playing for cowboys

Its been stated that Drinkwater doesn't get on with the Cowboys Coach, so I think he'll still leave them, especially that he is now in red hot form and can demand a big payday.

However, I can't help thinking he would prefer a side like the Sharks, who are looking to replace Kennedy. I'll be thrilled if we can get him though.

Drinkwater is close mates with Val Holmes. Think he’ll join us. We’ll be able to offer more money than Sharks too
