2027 coaching candidates

The same board that consistently stuffs up our membership packages.

We have a culture problem and that stems from the board.

The Re-signed Mary 3 times.... Longest coach in our recent history...

We need a younger coach with fresh ideas, we need speed and aggression and to play a style that suits the modern game we have continually been stuck in the past whether it be player signings or coaches.

My choice is go big sign coach Ivan and Nathan Kleary 4 premiership winners lock them up 5 years they are up for contracts end of 2027.
And have M Ennis this season and next to cover till then.

I think Willie has the respect and acceptance for most if not all of the playing group. There maybe a few 'old heads' that may not like his style but that's ok, they are free to leave.

So, Willie as interim with a mandate to win us say 50% of our remaining games. If achieved then why not thrown him a permanent gig.

Failing that, Peter Wallace would be my next choice.

Willie to blood his juniors and if he goes well, great, give him the gig.

Talk to Wallace in the meantime, then make the decision later in the year.

We need a modern coach for the modern game armed with a youthful team that can grow together and dominate in today's game!

Why stop there? We should clone Wally Lewis and Norm Provan. It’s just as likely, and our problems up front and in the halves are sorted.

Clean out all of the current NRL coaches - Flanno, Young and Ennis. Employ someone from outside the club. Any talk of club culture is rubbish. We have been accepting failure for so long the culture needs an overhaul. We need a refresh approach to everything and anyone linked to the old has to go.

There is no way Shane survives this week's board meeting. 0-6 for the season and 0-10 going back to last year is just not acceptable. Worst coach in Dragons history easily, we need someone to mentor and develop our young crop or we risk losing them all. Brad arthurs, Des hasler, Geoff toovey or someone like Hornby, Peter wallace, Brad thorn im sure there is plenty of options to choose from and past results mean nothing, look at Shane. He was carried to a premiership, got a spoon and sent us backwards. What's everyone's suggestions?

These two strong individuals with strongly held points of view who know a couple of three things about running and coaching footy clubs will deliver 12 Premierships in a row: 2027-2038.

After some contemplation I can't see the Board promoting Willie to the interim coach position (i am hopeful I am wrong).

The reason is too much disturbance. Simply put:
Who would be his assistants? You would presume that if Willie is promoted then both DY and ME would have been given the sack as well.
So who comes in, in such a short window of time? We are talking days not weeks here.
Who then takes the reigns of the Cup squad? Again we are talking days not weeks.

Alternatively, give the interim to DY (seems most likely scenario) give him a charter of KPI's to tick off. Failure to achieve those KPI's should rule him out of a permanent HC role. Then look at Willie or PW to start afresh from Nov 1.

The danger here is, from various sources, that DY is not liked by the playing group. But of course we'll go through the cycle of " he needs time to get his roster" etc, etc.

Like everyone on this forum, I want to win every game, every week, to do that with the game itself evolving every year, we need a progressive coach who will metamorph us out of this cocoon we are currently playing in. Yes we need speed, agility, stamina and smarts. Who in our current playing group fits that bill? And, if we do have, who is the best HC to bring these to the fore or attract those from outside?
The future, dare I say it, is bleak and will continue to be so if we just continue the cycle over and over and over again. However, there is an opportunity to break out of the void, it's whether the BoD are tuned in and brave enough to want us to.

I wouldn't be surprised if they give him a a timeline to turn it around ........ I say piss him off now , but knowing our lot

The team is so dire that any new coach will do as first thing they will do is remove Kyle from 7. How many times are we going to see him dummy and get tackled on the last. Pathetic half and if Snr Flanno reckons he is the best 7 then that is a massive problem.
