The mergers we got didn’t work.

manly and norths were never going to work.

The dragons have the sharks in the middle of their catchment

tigers, I have no idea if they’re an eastern or western Sydney club, whatever they are, they’re 1/2 of whatever they shoukd be.

I don’t think any merger would have “worked”… there is a lot of hate in Rugby League … also too easy for disgruntled fans of one of the “old” teams to point the finger at the other when the inevitable down times come

The two teams adjoining each other that merged was the biggest dud of the three and lasted like 2 years

The other two won premierships at least …. There are a few other non merged teams that probably wished they sucked that bad the last 25 years…( looking at you Parramatta )

Western Sydney Tigers
9 games in South-West:
8 home games @ 40,000 seat new Liverpool Stadium
1 away game @ 40,000 seat new Liverpool Stadium against the Bulldogs
8 games at SFS for Inner Sydney:
4 homes games @ Allianz Stadium (Roosters, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Sharks)
4 away games @ Allianz Stadium (Roosters, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Sharks)
Becomes a 25-30k average club by 2040

St George-Illawarra Dragons
8 games in Illawarra:
8 home games @ 20,000+ upgraded Wollongong Stadium
8 key games in Sydney:
4 home games @ Allianz Stadium (Roosters, Rabbitohs, Tigers, Sharks)
4 away games @ Allianz Stadium (Roosters, Rabbitohs, Tigers, Sharks)
Becomes a 20-30k average club by 2040

All markets of the merger teams gain more games in their respective areas.

Has the NSW Government confirmed funding for this new 40k Liverpool stadium?
Nope. About 20 years ago the Bulldogs were going to build a 34,000 seat stadium there. If it had gotten up, Bulldogs & Tigers would likely be playing there today.

With the amount of residential growth that will occur out west with the airport, to me it's the most common sense solution. 8 Tigers games, 10-12 Bulldogs games, 20+ Macarthur FC matches. It'd get year round use. It makes more sense than fixing Accor.

40k stadium at Liverpool …It’s nice to dream ..

They have just secured funding for upgrades at Leichhardt and Campbelltown … these have come with commitments to play games at both stadia until 2041.

They need to push the South West … it’s been neglected in the past … perhaps further money can be sourced down the road to expand the stadium at Campbelltown … Leichhardt will end up with 3-4 games a year with around a 20k capacity ground … these will be against the low drawing out of town clubs like Cowboys and Titans ..

that would have been amazing and make total sense.

I'd be happy for the sharks to join us, provided we keep our red and white V and name ourselves, STGIS

We don't want any scum stink on the saints brand. It's bad enough the saints had the Steelers drag them down to their level.

Stuff that. Lets be brave and go a 4 way merger, relocation and expansion all at once. Great Southern Bite of Saints, Illawarra and Sharks with all 12 games Adelaide. 7E96C9B1-6C58-4D5A-8C16-F73CCB00312B.png3A8C2210-96B7-4A07-911F-B41DA427C907.png
