The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The Qld Government won't fund it, and I doubt Brisbane City Council would have the finances to (and that's assuming Kayo falls into its jurisdiction). Kayo Stadium is not an NRL standard facility for regular game play.
It'd be in Moreton Bay council, wouldn't it?

60k+ or whatever they can get Suncorp to without a total rebuild would be enough to try and snag a Grand Final in theory. It would require the QLD Government to overbid NSW by a fair bit obviously but not out of the realms of possibility. Superbowl was at a 65k stadium last year.

As for the Dolphins, there is a huge opportunity for them to target the overflow from the Broncos who are not only selling out most games but charging quite a lot to get there.

The best thing to get action by the NSW government on Accor is for Brisbane to steal the GF on a regular basis.

100% correct about Broncos overflow. Dolphins also offer fans in Brisbane who support non-Brisbane teams a second opportunity to see their club. You see it in the averages for away teams: Warriors (33.8k), Cowboys (29.7k), Roosters (28k), Storm (27.1k), Rabbitohs (21.8k).

The best chance would be if the nrl actually followed through on its threat and opened it up to tender. Nsw govt know they won’t.

Warriors need a upgraded mt smart capacity of around 30k-35k ASAP.

also that $300 million would have been better spent building a new 26k stadium for the tigers and bulldogs to share in Liverpool.

$300 million for this?
What an appalling use of money. An absolutely shocking rebuild.

I'm kind of glad they didn't do anything to the ends. It allows them to do something in the future that increases the capacity.

Yes, it is. Usually its the state gov that funds stadium upgrades though but Kayo is owned entirely by Redcliffe RLC so i dont know how much appetite there would be to tip public money into it

doesnt matter if stadium is owned privately. state gov has poured cash into it in the past. no reason it cant happen again i guess.

more on potential upgrades

$5M isnt much to write home about and its a far cry from tipping in $100Ms to upgrade the capacity
point/question was with kayo being privately owned would local gov put money into it. answer is yes, they already did.

the amount value of how much theoretical commitment is another question all together.
