If anyone is interested in the performance of our R&R since 2022

Players that left the club:-
Gutherson. Sivo. Blake. Dylbro. RCG. Mahoney
Lane. Papali’i. N.Brown. Cartwright. Kaufusi. Nikore
Matterson. Ofahengaui Lussick. Talagi. Sanders. Dunster
Hands Opacic Hawkins. Lomax. Stone

players signed
Asi. Ogden. Davey. Greig. Momoseia Rodwell. Hodgson
Cini. Lumelume. Harper Multitalo. Tago. Taumonepea
Keir. Hopgood. Kautoga Tualagi. Mataele. Iongi. Volkman
Kelly. DeDelin Pezet. Doorey. Moretti Williams. Samrani
R Smith. Makatoa Rein. AddoCarr Walker

Probably left a few out , so feel free to add any , as most from memory. Not many standouts in signings is the last 5 years of current staff. AddoCarr and Walker are still with us and outliers in many ways.

How depressing . Roger’s must be one hell off a salesman to be able to sit in his bi annual reviews and sell his achievements . Then again , he’s most likely preaching to O’Neill .

MON - “ How do you think you’ve gone this year mate “

Roger’s - “ well I didn’t flash my junk at the office ladies “

MON-“ Agree , it’s been a good year “

Wow. The quality (at least in some part of their time with us) of the departures outweighs the quality on the incoming list many times over.

You have to assume he wouldn’t have signed without it. He was an elite junior talent. He wanted to go to market when it suited him best and that was 2024. If we didn’t agree to the PO it could have instead been a one year contract with no PO and for more money. And if we didn’t like it, he would have gone to one of the other clubs fishing in other clubs’ pathways. For example we signed Bamblett from Penrith’s Harold Matts team. Maybe they wouldn’t give him a PO.

If that's how the cards fall so be it

Because we didn’t have a vacancy at five-eighth. Why can’t you keep these two ideas in your head at the same time?

He was a teenaged footballer and played his whole SG Ball and Flegg career at centre. He was the centre coming through.

He played 5/8 in matts in 22 and we got Lynn from QLD to play 5/8 in Ball in 23..

So yes we had a vacancy for 5/8

Saints told him that they wouldn’t be extending his contract beyond 2027.
Not sure that’s true. They told him they wouldn’t negotiate currently as in a freeze, he could taken up his player option for next year and been paid more than he will be with us

No mate. If the player takes up the option it’s usually for less, more if the club does it. I’m pretty sure we would have given him what Saints would have paid if they took up their option.

I mean in first grade. Lynn was never a genuine NRL option. Talagi has been one of the stars in his age group ever since he was 16. We knew he had high NRL potential (as did every other NRL club) and we wanted to create a pathway to fit him into our NRL squad. That's why we brought him into SG Ball to play centre, even though he played all his Harold Matts as a 6.

So we had this kid who we knew had potential to play nrl so gave our current nrl 5/8 a po and didn't develop this kid in his juniors as a 5/8 incase the nrl 5/8 jumped ship..and possibly used one against the other.. I can see the stupidity in this plan..

Smart play from the team worked out well didnt it...

Is Pou the architect of the PO.. the idiot is the only person that thinks they are good in the year 2026
Because the rugbaleeg media made a circus out of them in recent years, prompting this:

The RLPA has made clear that POs are not exit clauses because they "do not officially form part of a term of a contract until they are exercised, which is why player options are not made public until that point."

He was off contract. Like Sean Russell this year. The PO had nothing to do with it. When a PO bites you is when a player is no longer up to it but activates the PO to hang around, like Matterson this year. That's when a PO works against you, not when the player just refuses to activate it.

You don't have a leg to stand on when discussing smart play. You're still assuming Talagi should've been happy to hang around as a plan B.
